I think Ter Horst tried to make it look good instead of rolling the ball into the net. In the end he was lucky it hit the bar. No getting away from the fact it was an absolute howler, but from where I was (behind that goal wimping out from the rain) I didn't think the keeper was totally out of the game. Although as Jay said it was harder to miss than score he still had something to do and I think it was just a bad miss rather than a failed showboat. A shame for Johan as otherwise I thought he looked really good in the first half and on another day could have had three. Jay rightly called out the poor finishing in general, but (albeit from a distance of 100 yards) some of the 1st half defending looked a bit last ditch, to add to the harum scarum in the second half. Jamar I think still needs a few matches to come back to his best, but he looked nearer the pace than when he came on against Chester so I'm hopeful on that score. Much as it was a poor result I actually came away feeling more positive than the last home game and I thought there were some passages of play where we looked really good - there was an excellent series of passes on the right hand side in the second half that had me thinking I was watching Barca (But I was out in the rain at that stage so might just have been hallucinating). Glad the next game is only Tuesday.

I didn't hear any booing or moaning from the main stand. What I did hear was silence from the Genco until midway through the second half so time to get down off your high horse and stop posting your divisive rubbish about supporters. Perhaps if you permed your mullet back and listened to what’s around you, and not just over one game but many, you’d wake up to reality Dave. Atmosphere is like a morgue with fans on players backs. Jay has asked many times for the fans to get behind the team. Or maybe you’ve left by then

Not there but not doubting how pissed off Jay sounded after the game. He clearly wants the team to give the sort of performances that they serve up away, not least because it would help boost home gates which are stuck at around two and a half thousand this season. It is starting to seem like the team are feeling under pressure to do better at home and weak finishing is not helping. Still think somebody is going to get a right tonking at the G one day, so maybe it will be Tuesday against BW? We can only hope. Coyfs! Too many people at the Gallagher predominantly, main stand don’t make noise, don’t create atmosphere. Some even moan and criticise those that try. They are better off at the library watching via the vidi printer Their moaning and negativity makes the fans around them who would make atmosphere feel too awkward to do so. Thus, a flat atmosphere at home games. Then when the team do not score as quickly / as many as desired, the booing starts and with no positivity to offset that, the team are under pressure. It is no coincidence we keep doing better away than at home. This post is a croc of shit. Why is all of our woes put firmly at the door of the main stand?? Let’s get it right Bar a fairly small group singing in the new stand who do a great job btw the rest of the support in that stand make not much more noise than the main stand.

Agree Jai was excellent, shame he is suspended for Tuesday.... 5th yellow today :-( That’s a blow. Wasn’t a fan initially but seems to get better every game. Mom for me today. We are gonna struggle to field a team at this rate. Someone said Richards will be available though which will help

What sort of planet are you on ? the EE was great again yesterday and makes 90% of stadium noise it has periods of quiet to be sure but consistently backs the team, whatever the scoreline the main stand simply doesn't generate the same decibel levels there are plenty of really good supporters there but still too many individuals quick to recall their 'critics corner' heritage maybe it's more down to the seating and the age profile ? not a dig at you at all daveu !

As for our poor home form, there's one factor that's even more obvious than the atmosphere, or are we too precious to admit the players may actually prefer playing on grass.

Bit of a red herring there Dave. It is more about us not taking our chances than the surface.. and we have only lost once at home in the league.

good point steve our goal conversion rate on chances created, seems to be a good bit less than 50% what we manage away from home surely it can't be down to trying to 'showboat' the ball into the net (Ter Horst) or is it something more to do with nerves in front of the home crowd glad it's down to Jay Saunders to sort out and not me

The atmosphere was no better or worse than usual. Some people just have unrealistic expectations of 90 minutes of constant delirious singing and chanting, and nobody quietly groaning to themselves when a striker misses an open goal; all those individual groans probably add up to one subconscious collective outpouring of frustration. Tell me any football ground where that doesn't happen. Let's not take anything away from Solihull who looked useful going forward, and with a little luck could have grabbed all three points. Got to feel for those visiting fans who unwittingly wandered into the Dragoon before the game.

On the wall there is a fresco depicting the seven levels of hell and clearly in the top corner of level 1 there is an inn featured with the title Dragoono. The boy was clearly on his game.

I am hopefully not on the same planet as you Nick. Have I said the EE stand doesn’t make 90% of the noise? My point is that noise is generated by a select group. There are plenty in that stand that make no noise but the vitriol is only ever pointed to the main stand.

I sit in the main stand so am qualified to comment on the moaners and those who can’t take a bit of atmosphere. Your point “bar a fairly small few” is my pint exactly and on top of that people moan. So where is our home advantage?
