As you have probably seen at stadiums like Palace, York and Lincoln there fans put on displays with flags and banners etc. So me and a few of my mates have decided to start looking at trying to do that at the north stand. I think it will massively improve our atmosphere and ultimately encourage the players. We have an initial banner design that we are going to get to start of with and then hopefully it will improve as the season goes on. We have set a Go Fund Me page up to allow anyone to donate to help us improve the atmosphere and you are more than welcome to donate. If you have any ideas for future designs then please feel free to suggest. Once again all donations are greatly appreciated! COYS!

York do it by having large flags waved at the front of the stand. Just looked at the proposed banner and wondered where you were going to put it?

We have a rough idea that it will be held above our heads when the players walk out and then pinned to the back during the game.

Might be worth checking what will be at the back of the stand where you want to pin it. Presume the club will be looking to sell advertising space on the back wall of the stand like on the riverside fences so might not want anything pinned there. Think York have a similar banner that they have on sticks to make easier to hold up. Have you thought about getting some largeish flags that can be waved. It was pretty impressive seeing all the flags at Spurs today. Would probably be cheaper than the big banner and easier to take away. Think you're on to something good here, certainly got me thinking what would have the most impact.

Also getting sticks for the big banner is a very good call and we might look into that. As for flags we are looking at getting some 45cm x 22cm ones but the only thing restricting us is the money.

I must be missing something somewhere, but how does having flags not restrict the view of people behind?

Fair question. Don't most clubs with flag displays put them somewhere out of sight when the game's actually on?

This is a good idea but you'll need the clubs support in terms of where you are able to hang/wave a flag. If your display is of any decent size, it would be worth asking them if there's anywhere you can store it/them between matches as it can become a real slog carting it to and from games, especially if you like a beer before or afterwards.

I must be missing something somewhere, but how does having flags not restrict the view of people behind? You just cannot help yourself can you. Move away from your little seat up in the stand against the wall, in to the new stand an there the shared passion is all about cheering on the team, singing shouting waving scarfs etc etc. Now IF some people want an view not blocked by this new banner they have 2 options either move to the sides on the new stand or join you in the happy clappy section.
