I recall when the family area seats were put in place they couldn't have a roof due to restricting the view from the main stand.
With regards the new stand, Bill said last night that there was a height restriction on any new stand at that end of the ground, hence no terracing - also, the directors are working to a limited budget

This sounds very positive from the club. I couldnt make the meeting last night so a few questions. Is this stand dependant on us winning legal /3g battle and being in conf south? What is the latest on the 3g legal action? Are we going ahead with the legal stuff? Any other noteworthy points from the meeting?
Thanks for any answers in advance .

[quote author=" russc" If anything there needs to be more terracing. A reduction of terracing will greatly diminish an already poor viewing experience[/quote] I've told you before, Russ, bring a box to stand on!

However the box is a good idea. Some sort of lightweight one with a sling and built in storage for ales and an oven to store pies. Can anyone tell me why they've poo pooed the idea of a structure at the commoners end? The idea of the club shop under the stand wad a good one.

Whilst not wanting to sound negative, this disappointed me more than the 3G situation I truly believe that the 3G situation will be resolved before too long However, to replace the Springfield End terrace with an 800 seat stand is all very well for those that want to sit at a match, but those like me who prefer to stand this decision will reduce their enjoyment at the Gallagher With attendances pushing 2000, the site lines in the terracing behind the goals are already poor, but now we're expected to stand four or five deep on a flat floor! I understand the need for more seats, but we also need more terrace not less. The comment was made by Oliver that they were worried that people were being put off by the lack of seating thereby not coming back because they cant see the action, but 800 seats? How many will also be put off because we only have terracing for 400 or so? Could be not have 400 seats and standing behind? Although I'm sure H&S would rule that out! I'm fully supportive of Oliver, Terry and Bill, but this needs a re think imo!

People that rather not sit/stand on a area can always come to town end all game ? Any how, glad we've made the decision to increase number of seats (as it is a requirement to the Connie S.), however are we in need for 800 seats? The main question I asked myself was.... "Can we see 1200 people wanting to sit down at a non-league game?" The atmosphere at the ground will swing either 2 ways. It could either increase as more people might be in the town end throughout the duration of the game, or some people might opt to sit down rather than stand in the terracing. Would still like to see a bit of terracing on the river side, nothing to major though as I know it will be very expensive. Just a little shed which is about 3 people deep would do.

That has to be one heck of a stand, if the main stand now holds 450, how would it be cheaper to build a new stand rather than extend the present one?

I think this is because the Main Stand had to be built into the bank which was an expensive job and would be expensive again to build into the remaining part of the bank. And the club wants 800 more seats.

Both stands would be near the same regarding price but one would be 400 seats more. Heck of a lot of form work involved in both, more in extending main stand possibly piler etc. Rc work is expensive, but I'm sure uncle pat will do a nice price.

We don't have prawn sandwiches! Will people get this picture out of their heads. They do have various prawn based items up there but I am unable to par take due to the fact it would spend my time with fluids being being forced from both ends. I do find the salmon delightful though

Will the new stand have space for supporter plaques like the main stand has?

Re Russ & Tim surely terracing is more important , the current viewing on the sides is the first issue as there is no camber to allow more than one person to look over another meaning that only 1 person can stand in front of the rail before the sight is blocked , this then forces people into the stands both again which are again to low meaning obscured view surely just a few elevation tweaks would make a huge difference.

The problem is that the club cannot develop that side of the ground due to the town's main sewer pipe running below it - as Bill explained last night if we were to put terracing along that side and there was a problem with the sewer the authorities would have the right to simply dig up said terracing. Think a cost of £50,000 was mentioned to move the sewer pipe.
I fully agree that more terracing is required - and more importantly, would be be better received by supporters - than 800 new seats.
