More than happy with this.
And before you say it, yes it could have been better e.g. Liverpool City, United OR then again, Wrexham away
So looking forward to it muchly, could we get something? Unlikely but the FA Cup is littered with unlikely results, and I am sure George will make sure that we will not die wondering (as they say in Oz)
Also, old joke but bears repeating, is someone who used to support Ipswich an ExTractor Fan?

Well the current gap between the 2 sides is 97 places I think. only of the bigger gaps I can remember. Surely that puts it on the TV

Why is everyone obsessed with the money. Proper ground proper day out and better than Braintree at home If at the start of the season someone had offered playing Ipswich away in the fourth round of the FA Cup, we’d have jumped at the chance. This will be one of the biggest games in the history of any iteration of Maidstone United. Ignore the glory hunters dreaming of playing Manchester United reserves. Quite correct Smoky. Speaking from a club a couple of levels below you, we were very pleased for you when we heard the draw and could not believe some of the negative comments. Ipswich is a fine club with a decent support level in a great stadium. What's not to like ?

I must admit that immediately before the draw I was conflicted with the possibility that Stones could be drawn away at Leeds (tempered somewhat by Leeds having been drawn away in their last 13 ties with no reason for that to change) so I'm happy that it's a draw to a reasonably well supported club which means thousands of Stones fans will get the kind of day out that I enjoyed at Darlington, Watford and Sheff Utd all those years ago.
Leeds have put eight past Ipswich this season. Our standard play is to use fast wing play and then pull crosses back across the box for a nippy ACM or No 10 to tuck away.

It's only Ipswich, you can possibly win this, I'd be happy if it was Fleet. Save the next round for one of the big guns. Enjoy your day, they don't come round very often.

Even with a reduced attendance to Ipswich's average we can reasonably expect a 20,000 crowd paying some 25% less than the norm for league matches. So Stones look set to earn £120k - £140k (40% of gate receipts). TV money as an extra can be anything between £30k and £100k depending on who wants the match. Anyhow its all a huge bonus.

Plus we will be milking the hell out of this and offering anything that is amber, black or stone up for sponsorship...or we should be.

Whatever happens it will be a great day out.

How things have changed...
Some fans travelling by car to Ipswich on the 27th may notice something familiar about the journey as they approach the A14 junction with the A12. This time they'll take the 2nd exit on the roundabout and follow the A1214 towards Ipswich, but 15 months ago, they would have taken the first exit, the A14 towards Norwich - and, just 8 miles away, Needham Market.
October 15th 2022 - FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round: Needham Market 1 Maidstone United 0 - the end of our FA Cup dreams for that season.
January 27th 2024 - FA Cup Fourth Round: Ipswich Town v Maidstone United - the best we've ever done in the FAC.
Not bad for your first ever year in management…

Whilst anything other than a defeat is unlikely in the minds of most people outside of our fanbase, the fact is that it is 11 v 11 and anything can happen. Leeds famously lost to then fourth division Colchester at the very height of Revies's famous team, since then despite being a "big" club they have been beaten in recent years by Histon, Newport, Sutton Utd and even Crawley who bought on someone from TOWIE as a substitute. Never say never because one thing that has been noteworthy of Ipswich this season is that "they don't like it up 'em" and when things go against them their heads go down very quickly.
