If we sign him (and that’s a very big if) then I hope he proves me wrong. But given we are still hoping for promotion I would expect us to try and sign a striker who will do well in the NL and he certainly isn’t that. If we really are aiming for promotion, we are going to have to rebuild the team almost completely. With very few (and debateable) exceptions, this lot wouldn't last 15 minutes in the NL.

Blimey, I though I was reading a post from swordy, it was so dark, negative and depressing. The truth JDL is that we will not be able to afford to go out and recruit players who will compete and succeed in the National League. But I think you know that. So the trick is to have a good season, get to the play-off final and just fail by a whisker to get promotion. In fact that's my prediction.

Depressing, yes, when we were doing so well - but neither dark or light, nor negative or positive. Just saying what I see.

And? A goal is a goal. If you put in decent crosses those things can always happen. But some people can never admit that we played well. We played pretty well in places, better than recently. We just never looked like converting that into goals. The replay will probably prove me wrong, but that own goal looked far more like defensive errors than anything we did. And I wasn't convinced it was a pen. Unless we can pull a miracle on Saturday, we are going to get humiliated. Just watched the highlights. And, unusually for me, I think it supports my original opinions. The own goal was almost entirely a defensive cock-up - nice cross, but not much chance of us converting it. And there's no way that was a pen.

It was keepers ball certainly, but maybe klf didn’t think he could take the risk with Rush lurking. A defensive cockup but the result of a superb cross. As for the penalty, I’ve watched it half a dozen times now and still not sure, but the ref was right on the spot and gave it without hesitation so I will take his view.

Interesting own goal - defender heads it into the keeper who reflects it into goal. Never a penalty, especially as Sol was actually behind the defender and if anything did the fouling. However, apart from the penalty, I counted just three attempts on goal, none of which were on target. We just need to shoot more!

Difficult to see but I think Sol just gets in front of the defender. Still not sure but as I said the ref was right on top of it and didn’t hesitate. Not a massive protest from Tonbridge either so maybe it was. To be honest I’m getting pissed off with people saying how lucky we are every time we get a result. You make your own luck. Sol’s persistence won the penalty. His back heel and Aransibia’s cross caused the own goal. It’s about time supporters started giving credit where it’s due.

We agree. It was an excellent attacking move and cross that resulted in the own goal. As for the penalty. Well it seems strange to me that some supporters say it was a 'never'. Def not conclusive, but quite likely on the 'balance of probabilities'. Ref gave it. Good enough for me.

Jay said it was a illy one tk five away so has no complaints

The fact that you say Aransibia crossed the ball whilst sitting on the bench as an unused sub at Braintree may just border on the lucky side 😁

Having trouble sorting out who’s who among all the new faces.

Surely an obvious mistaken identity can be appealed against? No yellow card can be appealed, not even one leading to a red. Mistaken identity is no different to any other incorrect decision in that respect. Had it been a straight red, which I initially thought, we could have appealed it. Yellow card overturned.

I’m sure one of our experts will be along in a minute with a definitive answer.
