I didn't realise Monday's game was actually all ticket till I randomly checked the official website. The club should really advertise this a lot better because I can see quite a few people turning up Monday thinking they can just pay on the day. I didn't know it was all ticket but I'm not going anyway not when I have 2 beautiful young ladies taking me out for lunch and a few bevvies.

I'm still blown away by people taking positives from that match - I thought we were WOEFUL. Like really really bad. Only an opinion, but one shared by my dad also. Tonbridge certainly weren't deserving of the win, but neither were we. Nowhere near. As a full time team with a plenty of players who have recently played in the league above (and higher), we were nowhere near anything resembling the better side. The most frustrating thing was the lack of movement up top bar Matt Rush who as always run his socks off. Biggest loss of the day was Tonbridge not being prepared for what is literally always a bumper crowd and running out of food, sweets, chocolate AND MILK(!!) at a couple of their bars / stands. Tinpot. Woeful? We were all over them first half. Second half was a bit more even but even so we deserved the win and but for a shanked clearance that went for a corner we would have got one. I'm with Dave U on this one, I thought we were the better side and when you look at Tonbridge's recent form ( including a 4-0 thumping of Darts) that's no mean feat. The only thing I would add is that the amount of times we got the ball into their box esp' in the first half we would have almost certainly scored more if we'd had Levi or someone similar up top.

Agreed, it was a more than decent effort with Stones being easily the better team.
No moans from my mates either

If the return match is half as entertaining as Boxing Day then it will be well worth the money. And thats just the end of game entertainment by the dug outs.

Yeah, it was one of them ! Doing a great job there and despite being at Tonbridge and whatever happens in the future will always be a Stones legend imo.

I agree with DaveU. It was not pretty to watch but our midfield dominated and our defence meant that There were very few attempts on goal by Tonbridge. We lack a goal scorer apart from Rush and until Levi's replacement is found, the midfield must step up and score a few.
Tonbridge are no mugs and has had some very good results recently indeed they have scored more goals than us and have a better goal difference. We had a great winner v Barrow and they had an equally good equalizer against us. as Jay would say "It was one of them".
Why is George being criticized about loans? Aphire is one of our best players. Timmy has not made an impression but he was an emergency signing to cover Levi's injury. I am sure there will be good news about new players in the next couple of weeks. Personally I don'y think wr are ready for promotion and would like another year in this division.

I think thats why, Pigbag, you share the U's black and yellow specs - because you are measuring from a start point of us as an average NLS side, which I too, think we are, and so more open to seeing the positives when we creep above average NLS to good NLS. Trouble is we are, quite surprisingly and possibly because of Levi (2nd half of the season will prove that - or not) play off challengers and we also beat Barrow, and we have ex Premier League legend Big George, who in the main seems to get the best out of average players so I cant help still expecting more quality and skillful football to watch on a regular basis than what the team serves up most of the time. The Stones this year are definitely a conundrum and like Forrest Gumps box of chocolates - you never know what you are gonna get! We could get tonked by Mangles and beat Stevenage, or tonk Mangles and get a cricket score against us in the Cup - you just dont know. Does that make it fun? Maybe, if you are an up and down excitable kind of type. Personally, Id rather regularly watch mainly average NLS football but with a regular fair percentage of skillful and exciting football and flashes of brilliance with always 100% commitment from 100% of the team and see us there or thereabouts in the top 10, but stay in NLS until we get a rich (sane) local investor who can sustain us in NL. Please.

I thought we were bad. Wonder goal or not, we just didn't create enough. Tonbridge worked very hard for the 90 minutes and were more than deserving of a point. That's not to say we won't smash them 5-0 on Monday, but we just never got going from where I was sitting.

You must have had a seriously obstructed view of the match from your 'seated'vantage point
