GGGGOOOOLLLLDDDD! Well Friday night was no good and I've already written Saturday football off with 25 minutes still to play but I get 2nd place in the National to win £12.50 (I think). Taking 50p from the penny pot to make it up to £13 the score now stands Swordy £0 v Bookies £9.

Saddo fact: Today i picked 5 home wins and they were all away wins,if i had backed the 5 away teams i would have won nearly £4,000 for a £5 stake. Unbelievable Jeff!

Why not just put on two bets each time - one being the reverse of the other? If only it was that easy jdl. It's very unusual to get all 5 wrong. As I write this AC Milan are losing 2-0 to 4th bottom Sassuelo.

Another disappointing night and I have to deduct a further £2 for a miscalculation in Grand National winnings. I've had much worse seasons than this money wise but this is the most disappointing of all of them, its just not happening. I did however win £160 out of the Royal Oak fruity so it's not been such a bad day after all. Swordy £0 v Bookies £16.

I picked I Am Maximus for the Grand National - if only I’d put some money on it! !

I used the I Am Maximus speech (from Gladiator, if you didn’t realise) as my ansaphone message some years ago, but it went on so long, the callers never left a message. Some may consider that a result!

Your callers have my sympathy.
Back in the day, on one of my many trips up to Carlisle, I rang my girlfriend to tell her the coach was delayed. She had just got her first mobile phone, and having discovered she could record an 'answer phone message', she duly had - at some length.
So, I stood there, in a phone box at a service station, listening to it, feeding in 20p coins at an alarming rate. Until my coins ran out (about 2 quid's worth!!) - and the bloody message was still chuntering on!
When I finally arrived in Carlisle (some hours late), I was - of course - berated for not having rung her...
