Enfield fc could become the 2nd Isthmian league 1 North club to fold following the death of a major director who was killed when hit by a train(suicide?). His death has left the club in financial trouble and no wages have been paid this month Sad news for family and friends. It isn't really Enfield anymore though. I don't think they'll be missed. Yet another case of a club bank-rolled by one man and literally likely to fold as soon as funding is removed. Thankfully we are a sustainable club, although many would have us in a similar precarious position.

It would seem the rest of the directors believed they had assets at the club but it turns out absolutely everything is leased and has to be returned leaving them with nowt. The players have agreed to play unpaid for this week to give the club time to find a solution.

Amazing that the other directors didn't know really.

To be honest Enfield going under isn't really a surprise, this would be the second time in less than 20 years.
All started to go wrong in the late 90s when they sold their ground and then most of the supporters got fed up with how badly the club was being run with no plan to seemingly ever return to playing in Enfield, so they set up their own team (Enfield Town).

Former Stones opposition Met Police who took voluntary relegation last season to the Isthmian South Central now find themselves 2nd bottom of said division, a sad state of affairs for a club who just missed promotion to the NL a few years back.

Chesham United lost their 100% league record on Saturday to Winchester City, not the news we needed at this time.

Former football league club Nelson fc now find themselves bottom of the NWCL div 1. It's odd how Nelson, who disbanded for some years and re-formed as an amateur club, are regarded by Wikipedia as the continuation of the original League* club, whereas we aren't. And yet we carried on, without a break, using Maidstone United players and playing on part of the original MUFC stadium. Only the name changed for legal reasons (Nelson's name also changed). I think we have far more grounds to be regarded as a continuation of the 'original' club (and "former League club") than Nelson do. (*They were actually founder members of the original regional FL Division three - much the same as todays, NN/NS! They only ever played one season in the national Football League (div 2) and otherwise had such a dismal record, that they were voted out of the FL after 10 just years.)

Ha! That’s one in the eye for their vice chairman who wanted me to pay for a new sign in the gents. Just because I corrected the spelling of practise to practice (it was meant to be a noun) and even then it was a Covid keep your distance notice, ages after Covid was old news.
