I don't know about arguable, I think it is FACT.
The owners have invested circa £2million each in the club and not made a penny profit.
What sort of people put millions into a business and not expect any profit ?
Our owners are the same as others, its just a matter of how much they 'invest', how often and what it is used for.
I would have expected the Terry/Oliver normal alternative investment return on their bounties over the last few years to be in the region of at least £1million, but almost certainly double or triple that sum.
So Stones have 'sugar daddies' too, but it seems more polite and appropriate to describe them as 'investors', like most clubs.
I think Stones business plan and the way it runs itself is great but find the 'holier than thou' attitude of some people a bit wearying.

It is arguable that our joint owners are sugar daddies, in that the club would not be here without them - perhaps that is the minor league model? However, it is one thing to build a stable club and quite another to subsidize it well above its natural level in terms of expected income. Still it is their money to do what they like with, but only goes to show that even in these cash stricken times, there are still plenty of people who have enough for some very expensive hobbies. Shame we can't attract a couple to Maidstone - or is it??? They've all gone to Chatham fc

They built the ground which they own as a separate entity to the club. So while they don't take any profit from the club they are asset rich. Sugar Daddies are people who subsidize their teams to run at levels unrealistic to their natural source of income.

If owners choose to subsidise the running costs of their football clubs, cricket clubs or grand prix racing teams, then good luck to them. Nothing wrong with earning money and spending it as they wish.

Most football club owners subsidise their football clubs. Stones owners have invested hugely on the capital side but as far as I know nothing on revenue support. All very well and good. Using the term 'sugar daddy' to describe owners who help their clubs is I guess meant as a derogatory term, comparing such owners as old men, using money, to have their wicked way with young companions. Not feally fair or appropriate imo.

Shame we can't attract a couple to Maidstone - or is it???Be careful what we wish for in that regard, say we get some clown like Tamplin. Also look at Notts County, Southend, Oldham, Chesterfield, hell even Wrexham, they have the grounds, fanbases of league 1 teams, but due to being run poorly they are in non league (TWO leagues below where they should be for teams of their size). Notts County v Wrexham had over 10,000 fans (Some league 1 teams stadiums can't even hold that many), but they have been financially mismanaged and that is why they are in the same league as us, I'd rather Terry/Oliver with their stringent financial policy, then a wild cavalier cowboy who racks up debt and cause the team to drop way below where they should be. Bury fans loved the glory of their promotion season and their owner was dumb enough to keep pumping money he didn't have and racked up debts and where have they ended up. We have already gone to the wall once, and were more or less there a second time under PBB before Terry and Oliver came in. We are along with Ebbsfleet, Dartford, Dover, Wealdstone, Woking, Dorking, Aldershot and possibly Torquay a bunch of teams who will be bottom half of the National league spend a season or two, get relegated to the NLS for a season or two come back up and spend another season or two and then go down again, due to not having the stadiums, fanbase, finances of the teams at the top half of the NL table.
