Looked awful at the time from the town end and didn't look any better on the highlights Really? At the time I thought the ref would award a free kick to bognor and having seen the highlights several times since I haven't changed my mind. Their player clearly got to the ball first and Flish lunged in late trying to retrieve a heavy touch. I thought this was clear from the highlights too. At the time it looked awful, but it was really down to the cavalier way Flish went into the challenge. He played heart and soul - which is great to watch and support, but always runs the risk of a career-ending injury. Which is more or less what happened.

So what is it that Bromley are doing better than us? Similar attendances so similar revenue stream.
We were always the second biggest club in Kent so what has changed in the years O have been away?

Not sure about the well run club but good luck Beth Say what you want about Bromley, but they are known for paying well. That's because unlike us they have a sugar daddy chucking huge amounts of cash at it.

I assume the term sugar daddy is meant to be a disparaging term.
My second team is Tunbridge Wells and so I visit quite a few grounds in the SCEFL Premier.
For those not familiar this is the step below the Ishmian League.
What is blindingly apparent is that every club in the league are supported by owners who subsidise their clubs.
Refer to them all as sugar daddies if you like but its the way of the World of football at most levels.

So who are these owners and how deep are their pockets?

It is arguable that our joint owners are sugar daddies, in that the club would not be here without them - perhaps that is the minor league model? However, it is one thing to build a stable club and quite another to subsidize it well above its natural level in terms of expected income. Still it is their money to do what they like with, but only goes to show that even in these cash stricken times, there are still plenty of people who have enough for some very expensive hobbies. Shame we can't attract a couple to Maidstone - or is it???
