Interesting times for the Kremlin, it seems, with the head of the Wagner group now giving a different view of why Clad the Vunt invaded Ukraine. As for Wagner's threats on the military itself, it only goes to show that allowing someone to create a 25000 strong private army, boosting it with convicted criminals, might just be a car crash in waiting. As Frank Gardener writes this morning, nobody should get too excited about a change of regime in Russia, let alone the break up of a country with many thousands of nuclear war heads. However, it might give Ukraine a break now that Putin has something else to think about, while spreading the idea that invading Ukraine was for personal gain, rather than denazification may just have let a genie out of the bottle. We can but hope that ordinary Russians start realising that their rulers do not tell the truth, though fear none of this will end well for many.

Countries rulers telling the truth, what a novel idea.I don't think it'll catch on though,it would be like asking a priest not to bugger his choir boys.

Mmm... did wonder about that even as I was posting. Wonder how long Mr Wagner will survive in Belarus exile? Methinks he will need a fair few of his private army standing by to stop Putin's assassins. There again, rumour has it that Clad the Vunt buggered off from Moscow at the first sign of trouble. Mentioned in the Mail and the Express, so it must be true. Speaking of them, I only see what is on the front page, via the BBC web news, but they really are screechingly Tory at the moment - even more so than usual, whereas the Times and Torygraph appear surprisingly moderate and the Star, bless it, remains a comic for neanderthals. It can come up with the occasional fun headline though.

So, Russia says Prigorzin DNA on the crashed plane. Given they lie as a matter of course - arguably they wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the arse - what should we believe? Wouldn't be surprised if the Wagner boss faked his own death, so he can live out his days in exile somewhere. He is/was a nasty shit in his own right, after all. Either way, suspect we will never know...

BBC News - Liz Truss urges PM to cut taxes a year after Downing Street exit www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-66836347Unrepentant, because it wasn't her fault and the current government should do it again now. Yeah, right. Why f**k up once, when you can do it again. May well appeal to Express readers, but doubt if anyone else is interested.

Rishi Sunak must think he is on to a winner by saying he is pro car drivers. Given that far too many of the latter never look very far ahead, ignore road signs and habitually throw rubbish out of the window, they make ideal Tory cannon fodder. However, if that is the best Sunak can offer, the gawd help the rest of us, because if that mentality got the Tories in for another term, then the country is sicker than ever. Just smacks of a really cynical ploy to stay in power, with no ideas as to what might actually improve life for ordinary people.

We really are in the shit. The Lib Dems seem to have abandoned the two policies that would have won them my vote, getting as back into Europe and setting even higher house building targets than the Tories with no kind of safeguards for the already overcrowded South East. Every party in this country is unelectable.

Laura Kuennsberg's State of Chaos series should be essential viewing for the whole country. Really well put together, it is proof, if needed, that nobody should vote Tory for at least a generation, until all the current fuckwits are dead or retired. The picture these programmes present of the complete clusterfuck we have endured over the last few years is even worse than any of us could ever imagine. Note it is senior Tories and the civil servants bearing witness, not Labour or LibDems. Quite who is able to step into the breach and make things better is another matter though...

Wonder how many ordinary people have to die before Israel and the Palestinians decide to sit at the same table and discuss things in a civilised manner?

Moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic? Certainly seems like it. Just as well Rishi Sunak is not a football manager - he can't pick a team for love nor money... As for Lord Cameron, it would be rather splendid if he was blocked from office because of his role in the Greensill affair.

So, Michelle Mone and her husband trouser 60 million as a result of PPE contracts and can't see anything wrong with that? ?? They took 30% of 200 million. They are already filthy rich. If they had made just 1%, that would still have been two million. They say the money is in a trust fund for their children. So that's alright then, but what about parents who can't buy their children Christmas presents, or even enough food? Absolutely f**king astonishing.

BBC News - Kent Police must find £35m of savings in next five years, panel told www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-68230480 I thought the government was all about increasing the number of police? So much for crime solving and crime prevention. Expect our match policing costs to increase, with fewer coppers for the money. The Plod will be hoping we don't get promoted too...
