The last sentence of Hak's post-match interview was very telling. "If I get my way I'll bring in some new players this week." Could be an interesting few days.

Our approach is usually free agents and loans. I’d like to see us look for a player that their current team wants to keep but to make the club and player an offer.

No "get used to it" and "what did you expect" from Hak. He is furious with the performance. Def well below 100% effort from the team. Stones coasted and panicked their way to defeat. Hak hints about changes to come !

Sickening to read posts asking "what did we expect" ?
Stones performance yesterday was unacceptable . Defeatist attitude and lack of effort from too many players.
"This was not Maidstone United, this was not my team, all the players should apologise to supporters"
Says who ? Says Hak !
Cheers Hak, it shows you care and gives us hope for the future.

What we expect from Hak, so good for him. If certain players didn't turn up yesterday, then bad for them. It will be interesting to see who doesn't start next week. He is entitled to expect effort and performance from the team, but there are times when you meet better opposition and this, it seems was one of them. As long as we try, and play sensibly, I don't have a problem, but still seems to me expectations are too high at the moment, given current resources and the standards of this league. They will learn, or be replaced, so let's wait and see.

We got here on merit, just like Dorking and York, this league is hard, we all know that, and at least half the sides are going to be hard to deal with. But last season's squad as it was could have held its own. The NL isn't that hard - last time we did better with a part-time side.
So no excuses, no 'what did you expect', 'these things happen ' bollocks. We have shipped NINE goals in just two games, that isn't acceptable for any team at any level.

I wouldnt press the panic button yet. If we keep shipping goals then time to act. If Hak does bring in anyone new, please can it be a proven NL player.. not another lightweight EFL u23 who has only come to us to 'play men's football'.
Remember that really good scouse left back Harry Wheeler signed? That's what we need temporarily.
We got battered a few times when we were in the NL before.. a few 4-0s.
Hak sounds angry enough to me to ensure he puts this right.
Early days...think how oldhams fans must be feeling.

We shipped 4 three times, but always scored: 1-4 FGR, 2-4 Sol and 1-4 Dover (all, curiously, at home). We certainly didn't get stuffed 5-0, or ship 9 goals in two consecutive games.

As i said, no need to panic - yet. Many fans wanted to give the NLS squad a chance.. we are.

No panic but complacency is not the answer.
Get used to being beaten most matches, we are just a little club and what did you expect rubbish.
Stones are just a shadow of last season's team defensively, when all 11 players did their bit.
Dorking found that finding their ways through Stones defence was about as difficult as a razor blade going through soft butter.
Wrexham couldn't even find our defenders on their way to the Stones goal.
So easy for them.
Of course it helps when the opposition stops playing and applying what they have learnt.
As for the players fitness, working hard and never say die character, what has happed to that ?

Our first choice X! from last season were def worth National League contracts.
But I was a bit surprised that other players who never earnt regular places were offered contracts too.
A bit of wishful thinking maybe ?
Then of course we looked to strengthen the squad with maybe 5/6 decent signings.
Just didn't happen, in truth none of the new signings have made a favourable impression.
Badly in need of a quality and strong holding midfielder, this is problem at present, with Henry Woods nowhere near good enough.
As for left back, seems crazy that we had 2 good options, but both are carrying undiagnosed injuries.
So we recruited a useless loan player and then quickly resorted to shuffling the pack at the back.
We can all see how that has worked out, sorry Hak but you have to try your luck again.
Other players need to look at themselves for the sorry effort yesterday.
Hak and Terry need to take tough action. We don't want this to be the start of more to come.
Other clubs will all be wanting to play Stones just now.

"If they're selected"
"If I get my way, I'll have some new players by next week"
Thanks Hak, good attitude imo.

"If they're selected" "If I get my way, I'll have some new players by next week" Thanks Hak, good attitude imo. What do you do with those that aren't up to it,you can't just get rid of them as they are all on contract. Send them out on loan? Who would want them? If they ain't good enough for NL then it's NLS and who would pay the money we are undoubtedly wasting on them. Any players we get in now are obviously not good enough for NL or clubs wouldn't be getting rid of them, or they are coming back from injury and unlikely to risk playing blood and thunder 100 % commitment in case they get injured again. We have already seen that the players falling out of the football league have done so for a reason ,that being they are shite. Our reserves or u23 side have produced nobody of quality and Hak refuses to use them anyway. I don't know our finances but can we maintain a squad with another 4 or 5 players in it?. There is debate at the moment about who should be in goal, do we really need 2 keepers at this level? Hak definitely has his work cut out for him and I already fear the Hak out brigade are sharpening thei knives behind his back ready to plunge them in with one or two more defeats, the glory hunters are gathering by the exits ready to run away until the good times return.
