The BBC weather app should do the same as the Met Office and limit it's predictions to a maximum of seven days. Until yesterday, it was predicting Maidstone to be hit by 60mph winds, then suddenly, it changed to more of what we have at the moment and not windy at all. Not a one off and many other sites are the same. Had a really nice short break in Seville recently, where rain was predicted the whole time, but a week before and it suddenly turned to sunshine, which proved correct. Am sure that beyond a week, they simply use average historical data, because anything else is wildly inaccurate, which is probably where the Star and Express get their info too...

Believe it or not there was a litter picking crew tidying up around the M20/A229 junction yesterday. Seemed to be doing a good job too. Only another few thousand miles to go chaps - and that is just in Kent About time, though shouldn't be necessary, because littering should be a crime punishable by transportation to North Korea or enlistment in the Wagner Group. Sadly, I expect everywhere will look like a shit hole again in a few weeks...

Sadly, I expect everywhere will look like a shit hole again in a few weeks... I see litter pickers on an almost daily basis along the footpath by the railway between Allington and Maidstone, and also along by the river between Maidstone and Allington Lock. They're all volunteers, and because of the scum that seems to dominate our society now they're really fighting a losing battle.

Did a booze run to Calais yesterday. £39 DFDS ferry (almost empty, apart from truckers), returning with 72 bottles of wine and a Calvados sneaked in too. All for half the price it would cost here. Likewise two coffees and two pastries cost six quid (would be ten to twelve in the likes of Costa, while a two course lunch and half a litre of wine was under fifty. Negligible litter too. Makes you wonder, not least in that drive through takeaways are much less common in France. However, one advantage of living in Kent is that France is easy to get to (and back from). That said, DFDS put us on an earlier ferry, but didn't tell us it was going to Dunkirk! Good job that is only half an hour's drive from Calais.

Certainly easy from France to England, all you need is a dingy.

It would take me over six years to get through that lot!

The two of us average about three bottles a week between us. A bottle of cheap fizz is three euros, every bit as nice as Cava and is our pre dinner go to. One bottle gives us a glass each Fri/Sat/Sun. Spent £200 on the wine, so saved £200 on what it would cost here. Definitely worth it.

Went for a walk round Leybourne Lakes yesterday. Birdsong was intense, no more so than the nightingales. Spent 5 minutes listening to one virtuoso performance that wouldn't have disgraced the Amazon jungle. Nice new cafe at the end of the walk too. Well worthwhile at any time of year.

Nice to see that Arriva have painted one of their buses in what appears to be Maidstone and District livery to celebrate the latter's 100th anniversary.

Tend not to watch much tennis, not least the men's game where you are looking at 3-5 hours a match. Doesn't quite equate to 5 days of test cricket, but there you go. More variety in the latter maybe. Anyway, watching a bit this week and struck by the amount of fist pumping/waving over the least little point. Not necessary folks, save it for something important.

Maidstone is just getting worse! Private cars which are not disabled and are certainly not taxis or buses are driving up and down the high street, gym goers are walking up and down the vehicle only exit tunnel from the mall roof top car park,as Ive mentioned before.
The latest thing is cyclists riding through the chequers bus station!
