Maidstone is just getting worse! Private cars which are not disabled and are certainly not taxis or buses are driving up and down the high street, gym goers are walking up and down the vehicle only exit tunnel from the mall roof top car park,as Ive mentioned before. The latest thing is cyclists riding through the chequers bus station! You only needed the first 5 words matey.

It is one thing to trim back roadside verges and hedges, but failure to tidy up afterwards on exposes the vast amount of litter that has accumulated. Those who do the littering are of course idle selfish bastards who should be named and shamed by being put in a chain gang to clear it all up. Charging a levy on the likes of drive through Costa and MacDonalds might help too. Most of the rubbish is their packaging.

Influencers. Just how did this freak show manifest itself? Seems they are everywhere and not contributing much to society either. Yet many are now 'celebrities', whatever that means these days and some are making shitloads of money from little more than peddling the emporer's new clothes. Trouble is, an awful lot of gullible people follow them, instead of paying attention to real news, which ultimately cannot be good for wider society, as per below and the two in this country recently guilty of murder. BBC News - Twitch streamer Kai Cenat's hyped PS5 giveaway sparks mayhem in Manhattan www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-66368733 Perhaps some of our influencers might like to concentrate on worthwhile causes, like litter, potholes, or anything that actually makes a difference. Fat chance, methinks.

Since the 80's.
Evidence - 1987 Song " When will I be Famous" - so an observed phenomenon and written about in popular culture - Music was the transmission mechanism to influence culture - The ubiquity of smart phones and social media has enabled Tom and Sue to make a living if they can get enough " followers".
Also they have been given the space to build this business model due to the decline of mainstream media ( television and newspapers).

Guessed as much. Probably around the same time children stopped wanting to be engine drivers or fighter pilots and instead declared their ambition to simply 'be famous'.

It was funny late yesterday afternoon, a load of kids on bikes and scooters were mucking about in the chequers bus station, riding up and down the bus tunnel and hanging onto buses and so on. The bus drivers threatened to call the police if they didn't stop and low and behold, ten minutes later a police van turned up! I've never seen kids run and cycle away so fast!!

It feels like Kent has become immune to the fact that it is a shit hole. Every time we go somewhere else, comparisons immediately start. This time a short break to Amiens and St Valery in northern France. First up - not litter, despite it being very busy. Second, French roads are so much quieter, because there is minimal tyre roar from whatever they use to surface them. Third, minimal potholes. Fourth, civilised cafes and restaurants, with no shout fests going on or screeching women either. Food and drink just wonderful. It's not all good though. Fuel is expensive - hard to find unleaded under 1.90 euros. Tailgating at 80mph on the autoroute is the norm, even if there is a long queue. Not as cheap to eat out either, but lots of choice for less that somewhere like Zizis for example. The centre of Amiens is arguably not unlike Maidstone. River through the centre, but lined with cafes along the water's edge. Really nice parks in the centre of too. Well used, well cared for with lots of facilities - unlike what Maidstone has to offer. However, our country is skint, so the chances of anything improving must be slim.

Substitute UK for Kent and you’re closer to the truth. There are plenty of counties as bad if not worse than Kent.

I wonder what it is that drives many otherwise pretty young ladies to adorn themselves with tattoos these days. A fair few women footballers have them (and indeed sports people generally), but do tattoos really work? After all, the process involves pain, money (lots of it looking at some) and isn't exactly easy to reverse, if/when, you grow out of it. Something discreet and decorative I can sort of understand, but various motifs splashed randomly up and down arms and legs just doesn't work. At least not for me, anyway. Strange thing, fashion. Back in the day, all you had to do to stand out was grow your hair long. Then we had all the piercing fads, then pouty Botox lips, various hair dyes and now all the tats. Emporer's New Clothes, people, Emporer's New Clothes. And no, going naked not the best idea either - unless you have the figure of course...

Tattoos I can understand. The one I really don’t get is lip fillers. Why would an otherwise attractive woman want to look like a weird fish

There is a house near me,who for the last week, has had fake cobwebs over the trees in the garden and a row of LED pumpkins!!

Don't get me started! Poxy Halloween had barely started when Christmas stuff came in the garden centres - and it is still September FFS. When I rule the world, Halloween will be banned completely, along with Black Friday, and Christmas will not be allowed until after Bonfire night with the latter only on a single weekend. Anything else with American influence, like mother's day will also be banned. It is called Mothering Sunday here - or should be....
