None of them were/are known by their first name given at birth. With a little more selection, you could have had one of those 'odd one out' HIGNFY questions, as at least three of them were called James (but known by another name), but the one who was called James, wasn't actually a James! You could do something similar with English monarchs, as many (most?) of them don't use their first name when they assume the throne. It will be interesting to see what Charles does (if he ever makes it) - everyone has been referring to him as the future Charles III for decades, but, if he follows tradition, he'll call himself something else. Going by his other names, it could be George VII, although 'King Arthur' has a nice ring to it! King Philip, however, just sounds too Catholic... Although I think he'll bottle it and just take the popuar route. I seem to remember years ago that Prince Charles (was he ever bonny?) said that he admired greatly his grandfather and would be taking George as his regnal epithet. He may well have changed his mind - depends what his favourite tree (or dog!) has told him.
It also depends on him surviving his mother.
Question - has any wife of a king never been called a Queen? (excluding Wallis as Eddie 8 abdicated and reverted to a Duke, and Priscilla)

I almost want him to become king now... 10 points for use of "regnal epithet" on a football forum!

Henry VI was married to Elizabeth of York so it's at least three. And also George VI was married to an Elizabeth, so she was Queen Elizabeth, but was not the monarch. I don't think the original question specified whether they had to be the monarch. I can't believe I forgot the Queen Mother, so that makes four so far. On another note, why are the Kings' wives know as queens but Queens' husbands have lesser titles.

The inference from this being that it took me five years to do what you have managed in 2! I have a lot more time to kill than you do plus you probably sleep whereas I rarely can unless of course i am reading one of your posts as they are generally very long and a quick nap half way through one of them is essential if i am indeed to get to the end of it.

Last picture i saw was that it was ready to have these whacking great big stations put in so any big away following would have then in their view for the people at the back. Still better than getting rained on, although i do remember one game there in our three year nl adventure where the weather was nice and we were all in t-shirts.

Very sobering to see all that is not right at the moment - which is why it is a long article. Two words near the start sum it up though: serial incompetence.

Oh God, JDL's back to posting (Sunday) Grauniad articles as his contribution to the discussion.
nws will presumably be home-schooling his kids until the whole world has been vaccinated - to do anything else would after all be courting COVID, wouldn't it?
