So if the leagues directly below us are allowed 600 then the government can cut some of their loses and allowing 600 into these supposed elite venues to watch and then financing lost gate revenue - 600 paying fans or no lost gate revenue if the average is below 600 (like Hungerford etc) Beggars belief how this cannot work, and is a misapplication of mine and yours tax payers money ! The chances are though, that the 600 limit will be reduced as infections rise, or even that fans at non-elite levels will no longer be allowed. I believe the government has got it wrong and that fans should be allowed but if they're not, this seems the fairest way to do it. At least it means that clubs with low attendances won't suddenly be getting a windfall they don't deserve. Whitley Bay v Blyth Spartans a huge FA Cup tie for thet area attendance set at 150 only ,normally for this game you would expect 3000+

Cancel the season. PL or government support to keep clubs going during the hiatus. Furlough payments for players with contracts.
No one goes bust, everyone knows what's going on.
OK, we lose football for a season, but that's trivial compared to what millions of people are going through.

As a lifelong follower of Nottingham Forest, there is now an interesting problem with that club. Up to Lockdown, Forest were doing well in the championship, looking nailed on for the playoffs at least. Since then, they have completely imploded, getting little from the end of last season and nothing thus far from this. So begs the question of just how important fans are when games actually matter, as opposed to preseason friendlies? Given the level and nature of Stones support, home and away, wonder how our players would respond in empty grounds? Assuming grants actually happen, has Hak assembled a side capable of playing without any supporters? We know our support has been the equivalent of a 12th player and how important than can be when referees and assistants mean we often played against 14, especially in the NLP.

There's no guarantee next season will be any different. If they don't behave responsibly ban them on an individual basis. If that doesn't work, ban them on a club by club basis, but a blanket ban on all clubs is just ridiculous.

I didn'tmention banning clubs. I just think that, with all this uncertainty, and pretty much a guarantee it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better, we'd be better off just forgetting this season.
That way the clubs and players (and fans) know exactly where they are, and the clubs have a better chance of planning for survival.
You have to remember rhe players as well. It doesn't matter how well we socially distance, etc, if just one player in a squad gets the virus, the game's off. Even if we do manage to start the season, it will be chaos.

If things change then our next discussion could be about how opposing fans get here through the lorry maze!

Let's just forget all professional sport forever, that'd work. Talking out if your backside as usual.

Seems I have to agree with nws on this one. Ridiculous is one way of describing our Government and yes if there's a way of finding a wrong turning or making a poor decision, they manage to do it most of the time. We do need to be back at work and thatt includes sport for players and spectators alike. Well organised, strickly controlled and covid secure is the way to do it. Limiting the Gallagher to a little over 1,200 in a professionally managed environment would in my view be a safe experience for myself and other pals. So fed up of Boris already.

But, leaving aside the abuse, you can't dismiss someone's argument by posing a completely different one and claiming they disagree with you! I never mentioned anything beyond this season. I was assuming a vaccine becomes available. If not, then we have to deal with the virus as a continuing threat - a very different situation, which I have no ideas about at the moment. In the meantime - and whatever happens afterwards, and despite the fact that I will really miss the football, I think the best thing to do this season is to abandon it. Clubs are businesses, and no business can plan for the future in such difficult times if all they're getting is ifs and buts, they need certainties. And the only way to achieve that under the current circumstances, is to abandon the season.

Whether you still think brexit with its 7000 lorries, loss of trade through Dover, ripped up fantastic deal that is rubbish is still a great idea or not the reality is that this government is both inept and corrupt in equal measure. The rules seem to apply to Sheila of the estate's kid but not Tarquin's grouse hunt buddies. It is getting worse and worse, day by day. They need to go, he needs to go. This ain't about brexit or left v right wing. It is about honesty and reality. We are getting more and more unrest. They are ruining our society

nws quit whining for heavens sake. The country voted for Brexit and then confirmed it by overwhelmingly electing the only Brexit party. You are in the minority and are getting boring = get over it. This is a football forum not a political forum. Take your whinging to facebook if you feel compelled to let others know your feelings. We welcome your comments about MUFC just leave it at that.
