Big Brother is watching you ! A rather pathetic tweet from this non league club: ' Tadley Calleva FC @tadleycallevafc · 13h We regretfully need to announce that, due to the lack of compliance to our social distancing measures by a number of spectators at Tuesday’s FA Cup match against Truro City, we have been instructed to reduce our crowd capacity to 150 spectators with immediate effect #TCFC ' So no bunching together & hugging after a winning goal, FFS, what a society to live in ! Hugging?? A true Englishman just lifts an eyebrow, allows himself a slight smile and cries out "Good show sir!" - but not too loudly. Well, that's what we do in the main stand, anyway...

Wise move, I am beginning to believe we should follow suit, but the players will still need to be paid . Hands up those who said staying full time was the best course for this club,I think you boys could be proved very wrong. Its now down to the government and possible compensation packages, if they are a go then we just survive,if they are no go then heaven help us.

I hope to hell that all the new signings have got 'termination' clauses in their contracts (or at least no payments clauses) if the season doesn't start or is seriously compromised. If not, why not??

Let us hope that Eastbourne's one claim to fame is not going to be that they were the last club ever to beat MUFC...

Id hope any of the new contracts we handed out this summer had get out clauses, it not we are potentially screwed.

Why 600? Even Boring Wood averaged higher than 600 last season.
And at our level, there are only 7 clubs whose average attendance is under 600.
For us, 600 is roughly a third of our average attendance for last season. There's absolutely no way that's viable.

Im pretty sure that statement is aimed at all the fans & owners (Dorking's owner/manager keeps mentioning it) who are constantly saying ''If step 3 can have crowds of 600 why can't the national league''

There is a fundamental issue here that football's ruling bodies are not addressing. How on earth is any club, indeed any business, expected to continue and pay staff wages, when it has no income? Could it be that far too many have become so insulated with money from Sky/BT, rich sponsors and sugar daddies, that they no longer realise what it is like in the real world? Either some king of financial package has to be put in place, immediately, or the season has to be put back, or cancelled altogether. Can't imagine anybody wants that. One alternative might be to allow the season to go ahead, with the agreed limits on crowds and all ticket matches where, when buying one, you tick a box voiding the club of any responsibility. With an effective test and trace system in place, such a route would even mean valuable data on how the virus might spread locally. Shame we don't have one of those. Bugger!

Yet more from Ollie Bayliss:
' Ollie Bayliss @ollie_Bayliss · 11m The National League has updated clubs:
They aim to start that season next weekend.
They await confirmation of financial support from the Government in order to do so.
Finances will be based on lost net gate revenue & provided monthly for the period that games are without fans '

The chances are though, that the 600 limit will be reduced as infections rise, or even that fans at non-elite levels will no longer be allowed. I believe the government has got it wrong and that fans should be allowed but if they're not, this seems the fairest way to do it. At least it means that clubs with low attendances won't suddenly be getting a windfall they don't deserve.
