The FA have apparently announced 4 scenarios for the start of next season. AUGUST there will be a full season including all cups SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER a full season but no league or county cups NOVEMBER/DECEMBER/JANUARY a half season playing teams once or the league split into 2 halves geographically each team playing home and away FEBRUARY there will be no season and all leagues will be held over until 21/22. This is for all non league steps 1-7. I found these details on the Whitley Bay website where there is a much fuller explanation it's also probably on the Fa site.

I'm starting to feel slightly optimistic about next season starting around September now. If social distancing reduces to 1m, we could easily fit our average attendance for last season into the ground, especially considering football supporters tend not to be face to face. Might have to wear masks but who's going to complain about that if it means we can watch football.

Masks, or other face coverings including scarves (as per my slightly scary brief avatar a few weeks ago). Not entirely sure I've washed my Maidstone scarf since I bought it in 2001, but hey.

Starting in September would be good. I think that the season always starts too early anyway as the weather is always too hot and many people are still on holiday. Very late August to mid-May makes more sense.

Last season, we had played nearly a quarter of our league games by the first week in September, which is crazy, because many of the next few games were cups of one sort or another and played in front of very small crowds. Overall therefore, you have to wonder why and consider the old adage of less is more.

I don't think anyone would complain if we all had to wear masks as let's face we're a proper ugly bunch, we might have to pay homage to the arsenal fans if we did all were masks and watch the game in silence. In terms of start date i have seen last week in September for a possible start, although that was two days and everything could've changed again by now.

Overall therefore, you have to wonder why and consider the old adage of less is more. When we start the season off playing league games teams lower down the pyramid are playing the prelims, extra prelims and earlier qualifying rounds of the cup before we enter, then we have the little run of cups games get knocked out of all of them and get back to concentrating on the league campaign.

Apologies for repeating myself from something I said a few months ago, but surely there is some young graphic designer out there that can come up with an MUFC design N95 mask that could be sold at the entrance to the ground when fans are allowed back in (or even sooner)? And obviously then it can be worn everywhere else around town demonstrating both support and social responsibility.

A lot of premier league teams have got face mask for sale 3 for £15 on their websites, usually three different styles.

There we go, we can all stop guessing now. It's on the Official site! Staying 3 mornings a week, Hakan to stay in charge and further announcement later in the week regarding players and such.

Well there you go.. An opportunity missed to bring in some fresh thinking or a sensible move to avoid too much disruption in uncertain times? Makes sense to keep morning training if it means the club can still rent out the ground in the evenings and the financials add up. Let's see who we sign and if we can start the season on a much better footing than we ended the last one...

If we are not in the top 3 around Christmas I don't think he will survive, especially if we put in a Weymouth peformance along the way!
