You are a master of the throw away one liners mr sword. But there is just a tiny hint in your posts that boredom may be leading to inertia. Don't metamorphosis into Cedric A serious point has been raised about a certain Jay Saunders and his continuing interest in all things Stones. Of course it never does to speculate but on the other hand maybe it deserves a little more of your time and attention. The fact is this thread has still got legs. You are right Nick, it is intriguing. Maybe you or someone can tell me what Oliver Ash had to say this morning on Radio Kent about such things as I missed it. Did you or anyone else hear the interview? Olivers interview starts at the 1 hour 30 minute mark www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08cdvr2

Nick think about these tweets of Saunders that you are so intrigued by, he can hardly tweet about his achievments at Margate can he as he has done nothing there, the only club he can boast about is Maidstone, why does he not mention that very long run he went on of not winning a single game? The club are in no position to announce any manager yet alone a new manager so let,s just sit tight an keep calm an keep the speculation as low as possible. Currently we have HH trying to work out if he can afford to drop down to part time, but as I said before his options are almost zero I should think.

BBC News - EFL: How coronavirus is affecting lower-league clubs, players, fans and livelihoods www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52680375Fascinating (very) long read about post virus football. All sorts of interesting stuff from Burton's Nigel Clough resigning to save the club money, through to Daventry hosting drive in movies on their pitch to raise money (now there's an idea). Well worth reading. Thanks for the link and agree it was well worth reading.
My take-away from this is that budget caps need to come into the game at L1, L2, NL levels. However player wage caps and squad limits, whilst being well intentioned, the overall purpose may be better served by implementing a squad wage budget (similar to F1 teams) and progressive between NL and EFL1. That would give teams more freedom of choice to either have a small squad on high wages or a large squad on smaller wages (can't be bothered to do a mathematical illustration right now but I am sure you all get the point).
Next should we talk about increased regionalisation in NL or even L2 to reduce expenditure?

I suspect the reality is nothing like you say. 7 weeks on after lock down and all that is happening is that Hak is still fretting about whether he can afford part time wages and the owners have gone into a summer time hibernation. Really ? Very likely. Was Hak ever offered a part time position ? I think your time lines are way out of date. The club will have moved on

Makes sense to me and wasn't this part of the rules in some football manager computer games a few years ago? Guess the main problem would be that the richer clubs (aka owners) will always have the means, and lawyers, to bend the rules, as per Man City. Haven't heard much about their European ban lately, have we?

Yes, their appeal is to be heard shortly (but I can't remember when).

Maybe we have sold out to Sheikh Mahandi and his wife Vacindra so instead of Terry and Oliver we have Sheikh and Vac. Maybe his multi-billionaire company FUTURE UK EMIRATES ALLIANCE are our new shirt sponsors, imagine the players parading around with FUK EM ALL on their shirts. Camel burger anyone?

The club will have moved on Before this lockdown JS had announced he was leaving an HH was taking full control for next season, an at that point nothing had changed, along came the virus an everything about next season has changed, obviously HH has to consider if he can afford to be a p/t manager on p/t wages but still a fair bit of travelling to an from work. The club will obviously have a greatly reduced playing budget next year which play a part in HH plans if the budget is too low he may well think all the aggro will not be worthwhile an stay in Essex, your right the club will move on but I,m not sure the moves theclub have to make will be all good ones. Money will be very tight I believe

Has Hak been confirmed as manager or is it still in the air ?

Don't worry daveu, I've just listened to the podcast. No mention of Hak but thereagain hardly the point of the interview that was more about how the pandemic is hitting National League level clubs. Oliver talks about staring into a black hole by which I think he means he cannot see into the future. But he clearly has no trust at all in this Govenment and the way the crises has been managed. He's not alone !

The more I think about it the more I feel it would be a good idea to start again with a clean sheet of paper. New manager, new players and more of a local feel. Hak and John stabilised the club which was the aim. But do we really think we can challenge for the title at the moment (five losses in six games and bottom of the form table?) The vocal minority would have been screaming for Jay's head with that record.
The COVID crisis means that when football starts again clubs will have the pick of managers and players who will be desperate to find a good club to play for. The Stones will be a very attractive option for many who would have probably had to find new revenue sources the longer the break goes on. Even Hak cannot, i assume, sit at home waiting for a call from Oliver or Terry or Bill. He should perhaps have kept his chip shop.
Lovely bloke with his heart in the right place but the longer the break goes on the more we need to adapt to a new normal of non-league footie.
Many clubs are having a clear out.. Gravesend for example kicking their manager out... despite his excellent record.

Fair point, Ebbsfleet's season finished well with 3 wins, 2 draws and a defeat. The manager gets sacked. We finished bottom of the form league, looking like we couldn't finish the season soon enough. Funny old World.

Oliver's interview as honest and interesting as ever - always thankful we've got such good owners when I hear him talk. I loved his honesty about Johnson's shambles of a 'government' too.
In a nutshell - the club is OK in the short-term, but the medium/longer term is completely unknown ("like looking into a black hole"). We are almost entirely dependent on match day income, so nothing will/can happen until the government allows crowds at games again. Behind closed doors, televised games are a no-no at our level - proper games, or nothing.
Effectively, it comes down to no football until the rules are changed to allow 2,000 odd* people into JWW. And we have absolutely NO idea when that will be.
My guess is not before August, possibly not even before the end of the year. And, if there's a resurgence of the virus in the autumn/winter, next season could be lost altogether.
(*That's 'roughly' 2,000 people, I wasn't implying that Stones supporters are all odd. Although, come to think of it...)
