I braved Braintree. We carried on from Saturday...pressing and passing well. Looked confident and the better team.....however we were exposed down the left a lot...a better team would have taken advantage. We were a bit toothless without McClure. Iffy scored a good goal but it was squeaky bum time quite often and Cole made some good saves.
Amazulor had a poor game in my opinion and we also played generally too deep. The game was spoiled with the sending off, but it looked like we were going to hang on despite Braintree having five or six good chances to equalise.
Literally last kick of the game....a corner and Cole just couldn’t stop it as it crept under the bar.....gutting. On the restart the ref blew his whistle.
As soon as final whistle goes George and half our team dive into the crowd....the guy must have said something pretty bad.

In summary, I think we played well until the sending off and would have had the game won if we had played less deep....been a little more positive and kept eleven men on the pitch
After the sending off....we just sat in our half and invited the pressure. Tried to play on the break(should have scored!) but ultimately defending that deep they had a lot of chances to score and one eventually went in. Overall I think a draw fair with our ten men.

So Marshall is becoming a liability ? I don't think so ! Stones have needed a strong, tough tackling defensive midfielder of this type for a while and long may he prosper. Much better if he can play for 90 minutes consistently, and no doubt John/Haken will be having a few wise words in his ear. Still a couple of players in the team who lack consistency in performances but our dynamic duo will be working on that too.

I think Marshall is a good player and a good addition, but that’s irrelevant if he’s not on the pitch. We are still heading in the right direction and have now sneaked into a play off position.
I think Wealdstone...Havant...Hemel and Weymouth are strong, but I can’t see why we can’t be sitting around fifth this season.
Do we want to go any higher? Would the fans be happy to finish this season there.....are we ready to face the national league again?
Personally I wouldn’t be upset with at least one more season in this division.
I do feel when you go way to most of the grounds like Braintree, Hungerford, dorking, concord etc that ultimately we are too big for this division.

Can only hope he will learn. Four games: booked in two, sent off in the other two - albeit one rescinded. Is going to miss a lot of games if he carries on like that. However, can be credited with enabling Kahn to play and is the player we've been missing since Lewis' first two seasons. Hopefully George will mentor him, for he has certainly got promise.

On Marshall, he looks the sort of player to get booked most weeks. He just needs to reign it in slightly. Maybe the manager can manage him a little bit.
I agree with Cowdenbeath that our left looked vulnerable. I think that’s the price you pay for having 2 very offensive players there.
I’m not sure who left his man on the last corner but the wright of pressure was immense. They also had the extra men in our box at that stage.
Thought Braintree looked ok. Not sure they’ll be in the playoff mix.

Didn't they score with a header? And, by your own words, the ref blew after we'd restarted. 😁

Hakan said it was hoytes man on the corner My impression at the time was that it was a goalkeepers error. But I've been wrong before.

And, by your own words, the ref blew after we'd restarted. 😁 Well Pedant, I am aware of your name and reputation...however I haven’t been subjected to it before. Firstly, I assume you do it In humour and aren’t really that anal...but to put the record straight from my inaccuracies.... ”the last kick of the game” is generally known as an expression and it was indeed a header that Braintree scored. Secondly, once Braintree had scored we returned the ball to the centre spot...kicked it once and then the referee blew for full time and George decided to do a Cantona into the crowd followed by both teams. I find the Pedant thing funny, unless you actually have asbergers or autism in which case I apologise.
