Happy to admit that I have tried numerous times to watch American football and baseball, failing on each occasion. In the former, it astonishes me how little happens. Short bursts of intense action, often no more than 10 seconds, with much standing around in between. I appreciate many players are fine athletes, but a game where a specialist kicker comes on just to do the field goals is just bemusing. As for the commentary, while it is very much a specialist language, when you try to understand it, most seems trivial, despite being made to sound important. On the other hand, trying to work out why some penalties are given in rugby union is beyond me and unfortunately that game is becoming somewhat Americanised when you see players get very excited because they have just been awarded one. Will we see high fives for winning a throw in at football? Hopefully not. As for baseball, again, despite numerous attempts, it is far more complicated than cricket, with even less action. Maybe both American sports are designed around eating and drinking?

More than a few on here were slagging him off last season. With good reason, Porky, as he couldn't stop the slide, didn't seem to know what to say in interviews and came over real surly and a little bit clueless. However, with a new team around him Hak has grown on me this year working with JS2. I'm still not convinced he is a No1 on his own (hence leaving Braintree) - seems more like a Peter Taylor needing a Brian Clough to me, so that could be an issue when JS2 retires but certainly not something to worry about now as John and Hak together are doing a good job and long may it continue.

Nobody could have turned things around last season. The managers were brought in with this season in mind.

You are probably right Barney, but I still think Hak and JS2 are better as a team than as individuals and Hak is a No2 and of the two only JS2 could still succeed solo. All of which is irrelevant right now as we enjoy what together they are bringing to MUFC, which is a real shot at playoffs, so well done to them both.

And, as we didn't, is that clear evidence that the owners wanted relegation?

Not sure about American football but I'm pretty sure baseball was invented before television.

Marshall sent off again. Kent on Line says second yellow for studs up, but not helped by the player 'screaming' when tackled. Comments from those who braved Braintree welcomed...
