I can’t wait for this after the win yesterday and our current form. Hoping we take a decent crowd.
Luckily we have lots of family in Essex so will be there anyway looking after the Dad in Law and then visiting the grandson and family in Witham just down the road from Braintree.
Had the game had been on a Saturday we would have taken our son and grandson to it, but sadly an evening game is too late for a football obsessed 3 1/2 year old!

Predictions? I think we will play well, but get pinned to a 1-1 or a 2-2.

It's possible that playing well is as important as the result. We have not been consistent enough for some this season, so if the team can follow up Saturday's performance with another three or four, then that should see crowds grow again.

This time 4 years ago Chippenham was our 11th clean sheet of the season and we got 3 more in a row in November... (No, I'm not JDL in disguise...)

But 2,000+ in the NS is still a pretty decent gate. (Our aveage gate is quite a bit lower: 1,873, but still pretty good at this level - 3rd placed H&W are almost 500 behind us, and DH are only ahead due to their near 3,000 gate on Non-League day.) For comparison, we averaged 2,222 last time we were in the NS, but that was after two promotions in three years. And, in the NL, we averaged 2,385, 2,412 and 2,178. So, even at our peak, we only put on just under 200 - and that was with much larger away attendances. (Massive caveat - all my figures are from Football Web Pages, so are almost certainly unreliable! But, as we are only dealing with averages, they're not going to be too far out.)

Tbh, 350 per match down from last time in NLS is quite a bit worse than I realised. At £15 a punter we are talking over £5,000 less gate money every home gate. Couple that with less spending by supporters on match day and we are around the best part of 6k x 20 = £120,000. Much reduced players wage bill. Credit to John and Haken for the squad they have assembled.

I'm almost (but not quite) bored enough not to post a response
Any season on season crowd variation will undoubtedly be from a combination of season ticket holders, adult tickets @ £15, concessions @£12, youths @ £7 and under 11's @ £2.
Don't forget our old friend VAT which reduces the gate money anyway by a sixth.
Theoretically as well there must be some point that matchday staff costs vary because of the crowd size.
I trust the club knows the real impact but anyone else appears to be wildly speculating. One thing is certain its not £15 a punter.

I am sure the club are quite happy with how our attendances are holding up in a lower league. Football crowds can never be taken for granted but we remain the best supported club in our division... not much more you can do than that.

If I remember rightly the admission charge (per game)went up when we were promoted to the National (2 fewer games) but I cannot recall by how much. The Main Stand certainly went up from £2 to £3

Not all clambering to the Spitfire at half time to squeeze a beer in. I’m certainly drinking more now . Just seems easier to get at will 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 Cheers

Perhaps someone firing t shirts from a bazooka into the crowd, cheer leaders, and a Kiss cam for the big screen?
Sorry...think I’ve spent too much time in Orlando. As tempting as it would be to fly back early and spend the evening at one of the worst grounds I’ve visited. I’ll opt for Hollywood studios instead

They only have to have that as the have shirt attention span to concentrate for long periods if time needs to be broken up with jumbo screens telling them to make some noise.
