Lamenting lost pubs is like lamenting the passing of time. It will change nothing

It will change nothing [br You are ,in essence, correct but do we still not lament on the passing of our original club and ground and the fond memories of both. No we cannot change the past but only enjoy the nostalgia and it's the same with lost pubs.

Yeah now all we need is some more trains and Maidstone might just enter the 21st century at last.

This looks unbelievable. So I don't believe these images will bear any resemblance to reality. This grot spot still stands there today in all its unmovable glory.

I thought they were replacing the old ticket office, etc with a new, bigger one? This looks much the same - the Vic just replaced with a square. The druggies and the skate boarders probably can't wait for their new home...

There wont be any more trains or indeed more staff available to sell tickets.

I assumed they were going to turn it into something like Croydon East. All they're actually doing is knocking the Vic down and replacing it with a square! By the by, has anyone noticed the heavy duty scaffolding they've put above the Vic? What on earth are they doing that needs that sort of structure??

Elf n safety. Can't have bits of pub falling on people.
Talking of public spaces, am I the only one who gets dizzy looking at the new paving at the bottom of Gabriel's Hill? Horrible pattern.

Walked up Gabriel's Hill post 'quick one after work' (ahem...) on Friday, and that pattern's horrific. I'd like a word in the shell-like of whoever came up with that.

Well, it's a slight improvement on the grey on grey that they've used everywhere else.. Complete bollix, the whole programme - looks dull, and the blocks aren't even properly laid in places. And without that circular metal bench round the tree outside the old Palace of Shame, where are people supposed to sit and dribble sick at 2 in the morning?
