Walked up Gabriel's Hill post 'quick one after work' (ahem...) on Friday, and that pattern's horrific. I'd like a word in the shell-like of whoever came up with that. Well, it's a slight improvement on the grey on grey that they've used everywhere else.. Complete bollix, the whole programme - looks dull, and the blocks aren't even properly laid in places. And without that circular metal bench round the tree outside the old Palace of Shame, where are people supposed to sit and dribble sick at 2 in the morning? Showing my age now, but they don't feel safe to walk on. Can you imagine the total lack of grip when it's really cold, they're wet, and then freeze over? Horrible. And the pattern's very disorienting when you've had a 'quick one after work ' (ahem...).

I think the fox on hartnup street did close for business a few years back but has since reopened and I went to check it out for the first time in probably 20 years or so and what a delightful pub I found . They had a good selection of beers and the place was spotlessly clean and everyone was oh so friendly I recommend to you all to pay a visit and I will certainly go back.

Someone drove a car through the wall of the Fox recently. But on my first ever visit it seemed like a friendly back street local. Preferred the range of ales and quirky atmosphere down the road at the First and Last. But both just a little too far to walk from where I live.

The First and Last has the oddest toilets - it's a triangular building and, from memory, the loos are both triangular and small! (Caveat - I was last there about 20 years ago and my usually unreliable memory might have been rendered even more unreliable due to an accidentally high intake of beer...) Fant used to be quite a good place for pubs, as well as the Fox and the F&L, there were at least four other pubs - two just round the corner from the F&L. Sadly now all gone.

I went into the Kentish yeoman on Saturday night, to check out its 30 grand refit and found its been turned into a glorified restaurant now! At least it is now back to its proper name, THE LION OF KENT did not seem right

What has happened to the Drakes these days ? Gone the way of the Palace of Shame, I suspect - indefinite 'refurbishment'. I fear yet another pub is doomed to reopen as a restaurant.

Alas the only way s pub can survive these days is to supply food for the masses which is wrong as I do not go into McDonald's and ask for a pint of Abbott so why do people come into a pub and demand food or even worse coffee , f**k off to Starbucks you annoying wankers

I was in the Stag on Friday night and the general sense of opinion is that the pub is in real financial difficulties and is only just surviving and relying on Fri/Sat evening's to stay afloat. It would be a shame if the pub went to the wall again as it is in a position to be an absolute gold mine. I don't think they help themselves though with their dress code and highly over priced food.

Not gone yet but story in this week's KM say the wheatsheaf could be demolished to make way for a roundabout at the junction of Loose and Sutton Roads. Never been in there but it's always stood out as a bit of a landmark on that road.

That old chestnut has emerged again then? Been talking about "improving" that junction for decades. Don't hold your breath is my advice.

Getting a "scores on the doors" hygiene rating of 1 out of 5 won't have helped. They started off trying to get the vegan market, who talk to each other and don't appreciate mouldy food. Always seem to be crowded though. Maybe they just overpaid a pubco for the lease?

How long has the Duke of Edinburgh at Barming been renamed the Rocking Robin on the Green? And Why? A couple of weeks. Was taken over by the Rockin Robin micro brewery. I think it's still a tied house but they are allowed to sell their own beers as well.
