Ah Jermaine Pennant, the 32 year old European Cup winner... ...who's 34 and not won a European Cup. £3k a week, taking their total bill to £30k+ pw. He's more well known for wrapping expensive cars around lampposts. Imo he is very much like another Billericay player O'Hara, slightly above average player but think they're better than Pele, terrible attitude believing the world revolves around them. I remember Pennant signing in Singapore and declaring himself as a major coup for the Singapore league and he also claimed that as he signed there, that many other big name English would follow him, they didn't. Pennant is more deluded than most of the posters of this forum, I can't see this Billericay money throwing ending up with the Disney ending that the owner seems to be believing. |

Jdh, there won't be a Disney ending to their story, but it does open up the chance of a "Gavin and Stacy" redux in a few years. Gavin can reminisce about the time his hometown club imploded after spending stupid money on washed up mercenaries.

I imagine in a few years they will fold, can't see at their level they will get a return for their investment any time soon unless he's happy to write it off as a stab at real life football manager.
