I was in Maidstone on Thursday at 15.30 and noticed the Stag was closed, has it closed or just not open in the afternoons? Reopened. Never noticed just how tall the chimney is before the scaffolding went up. Still the same inside as before it shut.

Good pub but at risk of flooding ( flooded at least twice in my living memory) so insurance may be costly.

Aussie Ale House open in Earl Street. Not very Australian. Two TV screens showing cycling on Eurosport. £2.95 for a pint of Morning Glory. Staff look bored when not serving. Not sure who is their target market.

Not sure who is their target market. Ryan Moloney Aussie superstar Toady from neighbours at Hazlitt last Wednesday. Came out at 10.30 and the Aussie ale house was shut!

Who can tell me what that pub was called back in the 70s, when I used to avoid it?

Went in there once in pre-Thirsty Pig days. Full of bloody students - scuttled back to the Pilot (RIP) asap.

I work with someone who says it was once THE goth youth busy weekend pub. Reckons you could buy a pint of slops from the sumps. Although, even by pre-21st century hygiene standards that doesn’t sound likely.
