The Stag was O Neills at one point. Muggletons was NatWest wasn’t it? Nat West's building is still there. I'm pretty sure that the Royal Insurance building was actually pupose-built for Royal Insurance, and was used for that purpose right up to when it as no longer needed. Then, after standing empty for a while, it was taken over by the mad Tory. Natwest's building was also purpose-built - but not for Nat West, obviously, as the modern (combined) bank didn't exist then. It was probably the National Bank. National Provincial I believe. The Westminster bank was the other side where The Brenchly is now.

Nope. Mitre was round the corner. You are probably right I'm usually round the bend. 😂

I don’t know if I’m disagreeing or not, but my first bank account was with National Provincial opposite what is now the moribund Royal Star Arcade; is it now the Brenchley? I’ve not been in since 1968.

Yes, National Westminster was opposite, and became a Spoons (to its eternal discredit), which is probably what pwoodstone was telling us further up the page.

Now I’ve checked pwoodstone’s link, I am still wrong, NatWest is still there, next door, as I should know as I occasionally go in there to pay in club cash (because they keep closing the more convenient branches).

Drayson’s Wine Bar. Within the Thai Orchid building on the river; the modern one by the bridge with the towers on the roof. Has had many incarnations over the years. Nice riverside patio, with inside tables also overlooking the Medway when the weather is cold. Pints a little pricey at £5 to £7. Thai menu from £9.50. Actually quite nice inside. Worth considering pre match, then a stroll along the river. Very friendly staff.

I was in that wonderful afternoon that 3 fellers lost a quid in the pool table and the landlord wouldn't reimburse them and so they picked up the table, took it outside and threw it in the river. Happy days😁

Saw that, resisting my usual SN rant. Looks like they’ve spruced up the bar area a little. If it brings in money to the club, then so be it. Now includes Singha beer?

Should tell Shepherd Neame to go f**k themselves and take their overpriced shit f**king beer with them. Just means another 3 years not drinking in our mega awful soulless barn of a clubhouse by far the worst in the country, let alone county.🤬🤬🤬🤬
