A quick dip in your back pocket, Bernie? Maybe Maidstone United should buy it as a town centre money spinner.

Didn't know there was a Phoenix bar in Bank Street🤣🤣 It’s actually OK in there. More of a clubby weekend thing, but cafe during the day.

What was the ‘pub’ name for Muggletons before it was Muggletons. I see it written in some news article the other week as it is being refurbished but just can’t remember.

I thought it was an Irish themed bar before being taken over by Wetherspoons. I can’t remember the name and can’t find any reference to it between being the Royal Insurance building and The Muggleton. The name was what Dickens called Maidstone in Pickwick Papers.

One website has it listed as a Lloyds No 1 pub, which is an offshoot of Wetherspoons.

Went straight from former office building to a Spoons. The Lloyd's branding was just where certain Spoons would become more music oriented of an evening.

Yes, but it had a different name to Muggletons for a while. I remember when we ate there we would be kicked out of the downstairs left hand side around 7’ish as it had a dance floor and do would be turned into some sort of ‘nightclub’ area.

The Stag was O Neills at one point. Muggletons was NatWest wasn’t it? Nat West's building is still there. I'm pretty sure that the Royal Insurance building was actually pupose-built for Royal Insurance, and was used for that purpose right up to when it as no longer needed. Then, after standing empty for a while, it was taken over by the mad Tory. Natwest's building was also purpose-built - but not for Nat West, obviously, as the modern (combined) bank didn't exist then. It was probably the National Bank.
