Duke of Edinburgh / Rockin Robin open again. It Would seem the rumour was true as Sharon the landlady of the Royal Albion has gone to the Duke and will run both pubs. There’s only one Duke sword, and that’s Marlborough

Christ, that was hard work - constantly having to refresh the page becaue I have the audacity to be running an ad-blocker! KOL must be one of the trashiest websites in existance. I avoid Spoons on principle. But even before I did, I only ever went into this one to use the loos. Awful, souless place - just a functional place to get pissed in or for lonely old blokes to pretend they've got friends at minimum cost. As for hen parties - is there any worse modern-day social convention? I often see them gathering at the top of Week St on my way back from games, and it is a truly depressing sight.

I always feel weirdly bad for away fans that Society Rooms is the closest pub to the station / touted as the 'away' pub. Sorry we can't offer anything better, lads!

The Flower Pot is an infinitely better choice - not that I want too many other people trying to cram in there, my drinking standing up days are well over! But, sadly, the Society Rooms is probably exactly what most fans want - a chance to get tanked up pre-game, at minimum cost. But the thought of an hour or two in there, followed by the 'delights' of our supporters' 'lounge', would be enough to put me off football completely. Although I suppose it makes the actual game quite interesting and entertaining in comparison - providing you can still focus by then (or, this/last season, perhaps it was better watched in a blur...).

I think I must be in a minority in that I go to a match to watch football. Usually have a coffee, but certainly not interested in multiple pints, pies, nor the queues to get them. I like going to the pub, but not the ones full of shouty blokes or screeching women. Can't see the point...

I’m happy to give Sharon a chance but agree with you in bar staff, it’s a week since she took over and she still hasn’t signed more bar staff. Redstart have just employed Tracey, 32. The sort of barmaid the Duke should have been all over

Popped into the Duke of Edinburgh Saturday and it’s clear the new landlady knows what she is doing. Free coke and crisps for the kids of parents having a pint. Free pint for someone who accidentally ordered the wrong drink. How do you accidentally order the wrong drink? This sounds like an incentive for incompetence. I'm not sure I'd want to drink in a place that encourages halfwits. (P.S. what type of coke?)

Then the price should be lowered accordingly. Beers like Stella Artois have gone from 5.2% to 4.6% yet no reduction in price. It is a shameful rip off.As for Shepherd Neame I understand from 1st October they are raising pub landlords rent by 14.7% so struggling landlords will just shut up shop and leave allowing Sheps to close and sell more pubs for housing.

Anyone know what the City Wall pub Rochester is like? There is a gig on Saturday that I'd like to see but if its a Medway slum pit then I won't bother.

Goes for most places in Medway on a Friday / Saturday night, the City Wall is just full of people high on coke looking for a fight.

The band is Saturday afternoon but I think I'll take your advice and steer clear of possible trouble,oh well I suppose I can always go and watch Maidstone play football ⚽️
