I was so scarred by the whole Jason/Clown episode that I'm left with no real desire to get into the EFL (or even the NL!) at the moment. So, whilst I wish Sutton well, I don't envy them. But a little bit of me thinks, if things had been handled differenty, it could have been us...

Wrexham have persuaded League 2 top scorer Paul Mullin to leave promoted Cambridge Utd to play in the National League. That is a statement of their intent to return to the EFL.

Wrexham have persuaded League 2 top scorer Paul Mullin to leave promoted Cambridge Utd to play in the National League. That is a statement of their intent to return to the EFL. They are favourites every year and bottle it. No wonder, as this will be their fourteenth NL season in a row! The longest continuous spell any ex-EFL club has endured in the NL. Aldershot have also been in the NL for 14 seasons, but not consecutively (5+9). And Halifax have spent 19 seasons in the NL, but again, not consecutively - and not as the same club! (5+6 as the original club and 3+5 as a phoenix club) Wrexham have had a pretty mixed time in the NL. They had a purple patch between 2010 and 2012, where they got as high as second, and made the play-offs three times in a row, but their only other play-off season was in 2018-19 - otherwise the highest they've managed is 8th (twice), and they have finished as low as 17th and 19th. Covid was kind to them, though, and they finished just outside the play-offs last season, so probably think they've got a chance this time round. Although anyone who bases predictions on last season have got a bit of a shock coming!

Aldershot have parted company with their former Stones player, Alex Finney - who has left them to join Ebbsfleet.

It's in the nature of non league but we're going to see quite a few familiar faces in local games this season: 4 players at Fleet, 4 at Dartford, 2 at Tonbridge by my count? Also, according to the squad list on the Tonbridge website, they seem to have resurrected and signed Bobby Moore? Talented player, but well past it, surely?? - www.tonbridgeangels.co.uk/match/2021-2022/friendly/worthing/tonbridge-angels/389000

Wasn't he your player of the year a couple of seasons ago? He was, and I'd say you've got a decent signing. Was very young at the time and prone to the odd mistake but most were sorry to see him go.

Typical deluded hammers fans trying to claim the credit. 3 players (out of only 11 in those days), the captain, all the goals, three assists. Yeah, completely deluded...
