FYI Rob McElhenney stars in the excellent sit-com "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" alongside Danny deVito. Not sure if it has been shown on UK TV but can be found on FX. Ryan Reynolds was also played the 'Green Lantern' in the movie, hence the joke during the credits of Deadpool. None the wiser. Mind you I don't know the difference between Cheers and Friends, or Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber. I think the last US TV series I watched regularly was the Rockford Files. The Rockford Files was brilliant

Or the 'Old men waving their walking stick and shouting at clouds' section? I don't have a walking stick!

I don't have a walking stick! So just shouting at clouds then. Not specifically clouds, I shout at quite a lot of things.

Feel for the fans, but if the NL sticks to their rules this is exactly what they should be doing. About bloody time too. Now they should take a good, hard look at a few other NL clubs...

It’s sad but in a way, it’s the only way a basket case club can come back and stronger.
We did it and many others have

I wonder ! Was this expulsion mandated by the Government as a precondition for the National League to access grant funding?

There must be quite a few clubs living on the edge like Macclesfield and Bury were, who would probably have struggled on for a few more seasons in a normal year, but who will get pushed over the edge by this season. Will the bailout be enough to save them?
Maybe it would be better if they went - tough for the fans, of course, but maybe a sudden shock of reality would be good for football as a whole? Will we have a much slimmer, but more sustainable EFL and NL in a year or two's time, or will football fudge its way through yet another opportunity to sort the game out?

Don't often agree with you.
But clubs like the above must suffer the consequences of their folly.

I struggle to have any sympathy with either Bury or Macclesfield purely because they both had promotions in the past couple of seasons. We all know how expensive it is to be competitive at these levels so someone somewhere must have known they were paying more than they could reasonably afford.
