Looks like the EFL is making its rules up on the fly! My understanding of all this is that Macc are arguing that they shouldn't be relegated because no one knows when the NL season will start (or even if it will start) - and this is (apparently) against the EFL rules. But, if this argument succeeds, it will presumably equally apply to Stevenage. Which means NO clubs relegated to the NL. And the rules seem to say that L2 can't have more than 24 clubs (I think!), so that would presumably mean that Harrogate won't be allowed up? That would be fun - especially if they've already ripped up their pitch... Personally, I can't see this succeeding - they're clutching at a very thin straw.

It certainly must be squeaky squeaky time at Harrogate, can't see this succeeding, but so much at stake so Macc had to have a go .......

Macclesfield appeal apparently dismissed, National League will start 3 Oct ( with them in it ) - per a reliable twitter source.
ON EDIT: Thinking about it, the EFL would be desperate for Harrogate's 3G pitch to be torn up, so Macc had no chance. You'd imagine the EFL Blazers are still turning cartwheels over the defeat of 3G here.

As it should be,personally I would throw them down to the Northern Premier league until they get their act together.

Funny to think Jay was offered a contract there.

The EFL need to take a look at how they let Macc be promoted in the first place. For them to be in the state they were in almost immediately after promotion, the signs must have been pretty clear at the time they went up.
When you consider the fuss they made after we (and Aldershot) went bust, with at least two of the next four non-league Conference winners being refused promotion on financial grounds (ironically, one of them Macclesfield), it's pretty damning that they are still letting clubs with dodgy finances go up - 30 years later.

Funny to think Jay was offered a contract there. Maybe because he was comparitively cheaper than other options? They eventually took on Sol Campbell who also wasn't looking for zillions but just to establish his reputation.

Yeah and all the teams currently in the football league are run in a financially sound way, how many times do you see, Southend, Bolton, Oldham etc on court hearings lists with Macclesfield and our beloved neighbours Ebbsfleet. How many years did Leeds have out of the top flight due to complete financial mismanagement by risdale, Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Coventry, Blackpool, Wigan all spent good amount of time in the premiership but committed financial suicide and have been struggling to get back since, some going the other way.
