A familiar pattern repeating itself with a lack of creativity in the final third Too often our front players are chasing lost causes or hopeful lumps And yet the team's most skillful and creative talent is instructed to play deep in front of the defence Jack Paxman has so much to offer the team, but in the role that he plays, it is more suited to someone of Jack Parkinson's abilities. Shame that JP's star is starting to fade a bit with some regular substitutions. Jay knows that a shake-up is needed, great defensively but not nearly enough offensively. Stopping the opposition scoring has been the team's priority to now Probably time for JS to tweak both the tactics and the team Totally agree re Paxman. When we're subbing our most talented player for 'tactical' reasons, something is very wrong.

They were a collection of top players. More professional .more fitter and stronger . More streetwise and cynical with the officials ..WE need a few more like them they have an experienced manager like him or not he spends the money and gets the job done ,he's won this league and got a couple of others to the playoffs .. imagine if it was us who played two days ago v Dagenham ? .Most on here would be demanding tonights game was called off .

They were the better side, we had one chance, Alex brown from 20 yards. Nothing else, nothing. I'm not going to complain because we are in a great position, well beyond what we expected. Everyone just seems to expect wins. I know the expectation is high, but unlike the Ryman days we are going to have more and more of these games.
I heard a stat that said we have gone behind at home 5 times in the league this season, and we haven't recovered one. Not sure if this is 100% accurate but someone will be quick to correct me, that's how the forum is.
Never mind, we have a big game Saturday, in a competition we can do really well in. Perhaps we will score more than 1? I'd just take any win. COYS...

Fans: They brought all 6 of them, fair play.
The game? f**k 'em. If that's the way they wanna play then good riddance. I'd never want to see my team adopt those tactics, win or lose.
The sad thing is they're good enough not to have to resort to it.
I've been bored after wins and entertained after defeats this season...but never so angry. And the ref allowed them to consistently get away with it.
I hope they go up. Good riddance, sadly they'll be back at some stage and we have to go to their council estate this season.

The difference is most of their players are Conference Premier/Football league standard So overall they are gonna be fitter & stronger cos they had to playing at the level they played at before Them drawing with Dagenham werent much of a surprise to be honest....I'd make a good guess that Whitehawk have a higher budget than Dagenham

If that's an example of football at the next notch then f**k the next notch.
Thankfully I suspect that isn't the case and this was a very unappealing one-off.

I cant really complain about the result. They were clearly the better team. and they had 2 goals disallowed. We need to stop lumping the ball up from defence.

Well, this was the game that would show if we had what it takes for promotion this season. And the answer isn't one DaveU will like. Positives from the game? It wasn't windy. The chips were properly cooked for a change. The big bloke with the horn was back. Quite a few people around me enjoyed exchanging information about the latest Man U score all evening. I managed to get to Aldi just before it shut. And I had one of those scans today where they inject you with a radioactive isotope and you are radioactive for the next 24 hours, so it's a good job the Town End wasn't too crowded. So it was you affecting the scoreboard

What might the score of been if they were fresh and didn't have a late kick off on Sunday in such an important game .. We got beat by a much better and SMARTER team move on

I'm mildly amused that in the middle of this thread there is one post claiming that we played too narrow and then the next one moaning that we were giving it too much wing play.
As for the game...as much as we huffed and puffed, Whitehawk were simply a way better side than us. Their goal was superb and their passing, movement and control was the best I have seen us come up against in some time. As such I was left wondering why they chose to ignore their natural advantage and instead resort to disgusting tactics that relied heavily on the referee and his assistant not spotting the obvious. Today they were obliged with officials that were that useless. I'm guessing the games they lost were when the officials were competent. As has been said, I would not to want my side to play like that, especially when equipped with so much talent.
If anyone can give me the number for the person that supplied the substance that led to the officials amazing second half decision to pull play from a corner back to a goal kick I would be grateful.

However, I do dispute the smarter bit. They could have lumped us 4-0 by playing football. Instead they won 1-0 by playing a degree of decent football plus diving and cheating and at the end they nearly paid the price. I can see nothing smart about that.

Hey guys Maidstone based fleet fan here. Unlucky tonight lads. This forum sounds so much like ours when we lose )) As you probably know, we have been going through a dodgy patch..lost to physical sides etc.. Unfortunately we all have to play them and adapt accordingly. Second in the league and holding your own..fair play to you. Good luck for the rest of the season. Hope you make the play offs.
