In a way I agree and disagree with Payno who I've know a long time,we are all equal us "loyal oldie" followed through the dark yrs holding on to the dream of what we have today,I do feel the currents owners/club don't show us a bit of respect but since they took over we are all equal living the dream that old and new fans share lets get together and behind the lads for a brighter future,u can't change the past but u can effect the future

NWS I probably over-reacted a bit but I am fed up with this small band of people patronising everyone else on a consistent basis. How are we supposed to react to these comments? By bowing in front of them when we see them at home matches whilst saying "we are not worthy, oh great ones." Are we supposed to feel guilty for not making that trip to Penenden Heath - perhaps we should pray for forgiveness. I do have respect for the loyal fans who stuck by the club through those years whilst the rest of us did something else, but I don't need constantly reminding about it. As it happens, I went off to play club football because I decided I'd rather be doing that than watching Maidstone Invicta on Penenden Heath. Funnily enough on one occasion I was playing on one pitch down there and Stones were on the other, so I kind of got the best of both worlds! If a fan who started coming again two years ago puts their hand in their pocket and watches a few games each season, they can call themselves a loyal fan as far as I am concerned. They shouldn't have to be told they are not because they don't go to this game, or that game. All supporters are valuable, and everyone's money is equal. I am quite sure if you asked the directors, they would agree that all fans are very important to MUFC, regardless of how often they come, or how long they've been coming. If someone who only watches ten games all season has a ticket to the match tomorrow, I say good luck to them and I hope they enjoy it. No doubt some would argue they should be feeling guilt and shame for holding down a valuable ticket that would be better located in the pocket of someone who failed to get one but watched 25 games last season. Jayser, why are you addressing me with this? I gave a serious answer which was not patronising. After that it was all mickey take. Suddenly I become the focus and chief patroniser (if there is such a word)!

It doesn't matter if you helped kill the club like binsey, only show up for the cup games like ads17, drove to Ashford with Payno or wish we failed and were back in the county league like NWS.. As long as you go on Saturday, midweek, whenever, when it's easier to stay in doors you're loyal enough. Anybody who argues otherwise is just over compensating for something. Probably a small willy or something. Hang on, I disagree...oh!

So, there appear to be four categories of fans in the great 'loyal fan' debate:
1. Those who have only supported the club since we came back to the town - who are clearly lazy glory hunters, and who will disappear once we have a bad season
2. Those who supported the club during the 'away' years - who are obviously the heroes of MUFC, but who are now having to come to terms with the fact that their martyrdom is a) largely unknown to most 'modern' fans, and b) no longer required, and to the horror of now finding themselves supporting a popular club
3. Those who supported the club in the old London Road/Watling Street days and have now returned to the club, but who weren't there in the away years - these are clearly the true loyal supporters, if only because I'm one of them
4. Those few who were loyal fans in the old days, stuck with the club in the lean times, AND who are still regulars, now we're back home - respect is clearly due to these valiant few, but I'm not sure I'd want to get too close to them, as they clearly haven't got wives/girlfriends, or lives

1. Those who have only supported the club since we came back to the town - who are clearly lazy glory hunters, and who will disappear once we have a bad season Really? Are you sure this is really the only category for people who have supported the club for the last 3 years? I used to be a premier league armchair fan because that's how my dad brought me up. I was only 12/13 when the Gallagher was built, my old man took me to my first Maidstone game VS Corinthian Casuals (2-0 Paul Booth got them both). However, times change, he (my Dad) now lives else where and I go and watch MUFC when ever I can. My point is, before they moved back to town I had never heard of them, why should I? I don't live in Maidstone, I went there once a week to see my Dad, he didn't go to watch them (that I know of). BUT when I went to my first game (the crowd were much louder then from what I can remember) I knew that this was the team for me. WHY should I really be classed as 'glory hunting'? (I used to support a premier league team, looks like i've really gone up the footballing ladder, ey) and I will watch them for the rest of my life, whenever I get the opportunity. I vote a category for people who didn't know the world of non league, but as soon as they discovered it they took to it. P.S I have about 1 of everything from the club shop, turning on Maidstone now would be a very costly move now.

Not sure if anyone can actually win on this one, you don't go to a game, your a glory hunter. You go to the next game, its classed as a big one, your a glory hunter. Can't afford to go to the game, need to feed your family, your not loyal. Go along to the game, starve your family for the night, your a bad person. Haven't got the time, your a glory hunter. Got all the time in the world, can't get transport to the ground, your a glory hunter. Come on, give over, we all support the team, even if we cannot make every single game going. (well done Daveu (sincerely)) Thing is, I don't claim to be a loyal supporter, or even a good one. I'm just a supporter who goes to as many games as I can, just like we all do, and that's all that really matters.

I rather hoped it was more obvious that, seemingly, it was!

That is glory-hunting at it's worst. That's Kieran and Suffolkstone. Any more?
