Apart from the playoff games this has got to be the biggest at the GS so far. A home kent derby tie against a BSP club 90 minutes away from a possably game against Bristol city Sheff utd or Gillingham. I honestly dont understand why this fixture hasn't easily sold out it's must be because many can't be asked to go down to the ground for only one ticket. The problem is that our crowd, especially for big games, consists of two types of fans: the regulars who understand the Pyramid and see the world in the way you describe (and to whom this IS a big game), and the occasional supporters, who don't know as much about the club and the league system, and to whom teams like Welling are just other minor clubs and the Conference Premier is not a 'real' football league. To the first lot, the FA Trophy, FAC qualifiers against bigger non-league clubs, even the final rounds of the LC, are big games, to the second lot they simply aren't games worth going to. There's an overlap between the two groups, so that derby games (Tonbridge, Dulwich) or others of significance (eg. Margate this season) will attract enough of the casual supporters to get a full house, but these supporters will still not bother with a game against Welling (who?). Of course, if we make the first round, and especially if we draw a 'proper' club at home, these 'supporters' will turn up in numbers. They may even bother with FAT games if we get to the quarters or semis. But a game against just another non-league club, even if they are a 'big' club and it's the FAC and we're 90 minutes away from the 1st round, just isn't enough to drag them away from the TV and the pub. As anyone who has had to explain to their non-non-league friends what league Stones play in and how it relates to the Football League will tell you, most people, even most football fans, are unaware of much outside the PL, and certainly nothing below the FL.

I think that ticket sales for games like these can actually be sorted out quiet easily. Firstly there are the sales to VPs, ST holders, club members, etc - these are known numbers/individuals, so tickets can be put aside for these people, to be bought by a set date - online or in person (any not sold by the set date go on general sale). Secondly there are the general sale tickets (those left). And here the problem is trying to ensure that regular supporters feel that they are getting a fair chance to get tickets. This could be tackled in a number of ways (vouchers, attending a certain game, first come, first served, lottery, etc). No single way is fair to all, especially distant fans, but the important thing here is to agree a method (hopefully with the fans) and then use this system every time. That way everyone knows where they stand - distant supporters, for instance then know that joining the supporters club (and buying online) will guarantee them a ticket. The problem of parents taking their kids to games and therefore needing multiple tickets could be solved by having a family membership category, allowing more than one ticket to be purchased. A few tickets can also be put aside (as is already done) for compassionate cases, at the club's discretion. Of course, with very popular games, some fans will still miss out, but the only way round that is to increase capacity. As several people have already pointed out, there's a good chance that we have reached, or are approaching, a plateau in our home support (around the 2,000 mark), which may only increase slightly as we progress up the pyramid, so a capacity of (say) 3,000 would probably suffice (not too much spaces for 1,500 league games, but room for big games). This is a good post.

I have luckily got a ticket to go with my mum as I'm in a wheelchair. I went to the w&f game, the Gallagher is amazing although the food may be a bit pricy. I understand why it is all ticket as if it was not I predict that 3000 would of turned up. There is 2,332 tickets on sale which is over capacity anyway. I think that tickets will be sold out from both parties by the end of the day. I can't wait till Saturday !

I have just been asked a question is it still one per person ? Because this guy in my cab this afternoon said he wanted to go with his young sons but wasn't prepared to have to take them down to the ground with him in the evening. I wasnt sure and i dident have a contact number so he said he will check answer on this forum before trying.
