Thought we played well in patches. Margate were pretty well organised and we couldn't "blow them away" like we seem to with the weaker opposition. Was just one of those days in front of goal.
Thought Watt was outstanding for the majority of the game. Was disappointed in Jack Parkinson and Jay May's performances. They have their strengths but they didn't shine last night. Just love Flishes attitude. Never stops running / jumping / throwing and not with a shortage of talent either. Glad Zak was quiet but they scored a very good goal nethertheless.
They have a pretty good set up down there. Plenty of space to build a nice ground, plenty of financial backing, decent gates. I think we could both go up this season.

No one in their right frame off mind would deliberately throw beer at someone. The kick off should have been delayed but that isn't the clubs decision. We were expecting a large crowd last night but certainly not expect 2300. That was our largest crowd for 12/13 years I believe and with temporary facilities things are not going to run smoothly. As for the catering van, if it was the one down 'coffin end' then that is a private company and nothing to do with the club. Thanks for the info about the guy who threw the beer, from what I gather he has never been at HDP before, so was probably an opportunist which is expected in games like these Would be interested to know who would make the decision for a delayed kick off. There were easily 200 to 300 mainly stones fans outside still queuing after the match kicked off. An apology from Margate fc would be a nice gesture.

Ultimately it's the referee's decision.

Just looking at it now, our "goal" was onside - should have stood, god knows what the lino was looking at!

Think the lino was guessing half of the time. I don't think the ref was all that bad. The tackles were flying in and I thought he did okay.

[think the letter from margate f c would go something like this get there earlier. And you have the right name NIGEL

Ok, if decision to delay ko was not in margate's control, opening an extra turnstile was, so why this was not done until almost 745 when there still were a good couple of hundred fans outside was a poor decision to say the least. Can't blame the ref for that.

Like someone has said, I too has had the night and now the whole day to reflect on last night game ... and before a certain Forum member butt in this my take on last night game. Like many of you on here I didn't get to the game until 10 minutes after the kick off. The first half was evenly contested and we only allowed them the odd off target shots, for sure they distributed the ball quicker than us and our defence was excellent in containing them. We definitely got caught up in a quick breakaway after we had narrowly missed a chance at the other end and their goal was well executed with a clinical finish. I felt that Jack Parkinson had a lack lustre performance and that Rogers was left to tidy up his mistakes, Bodders didn't shine either and it was right of Jay to bring on Brownie who was full of running, maybe the time on the sideline these last few games has helped him. We more than match Margate in the second half and never gave up, unfortunately our luck in front of goal or with the appaling decision of that official cost us what woukd have been a deserving victory; maybe Miller shoulld have been brought on earlier as with Brownie he added a bit of urgency into our play. We scored what I thought was a perfect goal by Wattsy and that was more than we deserved from this game, but yet again the referee seemed to egg on the linesman to put his flag up to signal an offside. O n a game of this calibre we needed an official that was of a better standard ... Maybe the money bag Margate owner paid him too to deny us any decisions, it seemed that we had only to touch their players slightly that he was giving them free kicks willy nilly. The League title wasn't won or lost last night but we have some interesting games coming up in the next few weeks and let's hope that no one gets carried away that we have an easy ride from now, regardless how many points we have over the 3rd and other top 6 teams below us. We've had an excellent start of the season so far, Jay has worked miracle to find the right formula so far aided by his assistant manager and coaching staff. Let's carry on to give our team the support that they need and hopefully get back to winning ways on Saturday. C'mon the Stones !! ... We are proud of you.

Thought the interview with Terry Brown was very good and actually very complimentary to us

To be fair to Margate, they could not have expected over 2000 people to turn up. It's a learning curve for them, & I'm sure they will be better organised in the future.
As for the trouble during the second half, I did witness nearly all of it, including two pints being thrown at Maidstone supporters, & one bloke with no teeth having a right go at a kid in front of us, why he ended up laying on the floor, I couldn't tell you?
I thought the stewards done as well as they could've, considering the number of idiots on both sides. Although we didn't throw any pints, why our support was singing that we hate Margate is still perplexing me now. The rumour going round was that the 8/9 idiots who threw the pints were Gillingham supporters, but considering they were joking with the local police after, pointed to the fact that they were local. It's a shame that a really good game was marred by twats.

Having looked at those highlights, I can't work out whether 4 or 5 players played Steve Watt onside. That is a truly horrendous decision
