We didn't deserve to lose.We had the chances early on but hey ho...Fantastic Stones support, but id be darned if there was 2300 in that ground..no way was there, someones seriously bigged that up.
The three i attended the game with all estimated 1300 to 1600,the three Tuesday night games at Hartsdown this season they have had 560,562 and 570...I was shocked when i read the official attendance .

The ground holds 2500, there was way more people in the 'coffin end' then allowed in the second half and Hartsdown road end and the the seated side were full, so 2306 sounds accurate to me. You brought I reckon about 600, great away support. I've been there when there has been 1600 and it has not been nowhere near as full as tonight

Thought we were the better team and unlucky with a couple of decisions. Watty was my MOM great defending and unlucky not to get a goal. My only gripe is why not a delayed KO? We have had a few games at the Gallagher where an extra 15 minutes has made all the difference, very poor by Margate, However, I did here one bloke say the ref would not allow it, if so his a knob Anyway far to early to worry about that result and we are still well clear of 3rd place and top so all is not bad.

I'm hear to gloat...Nah not really Thoroughly enjoyable game tonight, very tense and very tight though. We could have scored a couple more tonight, you could have scored a couple. If it had finished 1-1 I think that would have been fair. As someone said on the Margate facebook page when you put in consideration the level off football played by both teams and the attendance you could have mistaken the game for a Conference game. Looking forward to visiting Gallagher stadium and hopefully there will be no repeat off what happened when we scored. Bollocks he looked at us then threw the beer. Stewards did naff all about it even tho he was pointed out by about. 20 of us. But it goes to show that it's not just Maidstone that attracts knob heads. Good game tho and a real shame we didn't get something from it. The return leg Should be interesting if both teams keep on winning. Saturday 28th March we will get our revenge!!! Coys

I'm sorry to say that a great evening of football was spoilt by a number of things. We were stuck outside waiting in a long queue to get in, even a member of the security said they should have opened another turnstile, so missed the start of the game. Due to spectators only being allowed to sit/stand around 3 sides of the ground, it was very hard to find a spot to be able to see. The food van - other than Three Bridges, I don't think we've experienced such slow service - it took over 30 minutes to queue, the poor girl who served the food was so slow my 10 year old would have been quicker! It's all well and good throwing large sums of money at the players, but get the ground & catering sorted as well!

I suppose we were due a defeat sooner or later but pleased we more than matched the Gate and on another day would have taken those chances so not unduly worried. The only dissapointment was the way we kept gifting them the ball and not holding possession. Agree ko really should have been put back til 8 , happens a lot at our place so no reason not to do it Margate! Overall nothing much to worry about. The title battle will be a long and interesting one with many more twists yet And weve shown Margate will have to fight us all the way. Back to winning ways saturday hopefully Coys

I thought we played well but lacked a bit of composure in the final third, we certainly created more chances. The substitutes made a difference when they came on and we really should have come away with a draw. Great turnout by Stones supporters. Margate are very strong and played the ball around very well, it was interesting to hear Terry Brown say we are the most big and physical side in the league and it was two contrasting styles. I think we can knock the ball around as well as they do, but we can mix things up if we have to. Long way to go, should be fun!

Right slept on it overnight and have the following comments. As other have said not to delay the kick off was a major cock up. I was in the queue from about half past and got in just after the kick off. There were only two turnstiles operating at this time.
Although I think margate had more possession last night showed that we are a very good defensive side. Yes we still give the ball away too much.
With regards to the aggro after they scored the stewards were indeed crap. there were handful of margate supporters that stayed at that end, as they were entitled to do. At the time the drink was thrown there were only two stewards there and indeed really didn't give a toss until some angry old bald bloke got very angry. A few more appeared and a short while later they told the gate supporters to move to the other end. A couple of old bill came in and also told them to move. They did by about three feet. There was one in particular wearing a camouflage jacket with tattoos in his neck still causing problems. He seemed to know the other people with him so if anyone from margate does read this start there.
One last thing, they may have a game in hand but I would rather have the points on the board.

No Ben Greenhaugh last night not even on bench any ideas ? We've got five very good outfield players to squeeze into four spaces on the bench. It makes sense to have at least one defender so Coyle has to be there, and then one of Phillips, Brown, Miller, and Greenhaugh are going to have to be left out. Maybe he had a knock or something or maybe it was just his turn to be left out I'm not sure.

Over all despite missing the first 10 minutes queuing outside, enjoyed the game, a draw would probably have been a fairer result, but I thought that Margate were just that bit smarter on the ball and moved it around quicker.
I think the only miniscule bit of criticism I would throw at Jay so far this season, is with a fairly big and experienced squad, the lack of rotation in the starting XI, thought watching the game at Lewes and last night, one or two players looked to be flagging, most notably Bodders. Think Browny should be given a run on Saturday, when he came on last night I thought he reignited the team, was also impressed with Aaron Simpson, he's looking better game by game. I would expect to see quite a few changes for Saturday.
Still top of the league and having a laugh.

No one in their right frame off mind would deliberately throw beer at someone.
The kick off should have been delayed but that isn't the clubs decision. We were expecting a large crowd last night but certainly not expect 2300. That was our largest crowd for 12/13 years I believe and with temporary facilities things are not going to run smoothly. As for the catering van, if it was the one down 'coffin end' then that is a private company and nothing to do with the club.
Thanks for the info about the guy who threw the beer, from what I gather he has never been at HDP before, so was probably an opportunist which is expected in games like these

We were tired in certain areas last night ( particularly in the last 12 minutes) - AF's booking didn't help his game.

We need to get an early goal, the longer a game goes without us scoring early we seem to get frustrated and this effects our play. Perhaps one of the stats buffs can research this ! Scoring early makes the other team chase the game leaving gaps and upsetting thier game plan, giving us more chances to consolidate our lead. Schimple according to meerkats.
