Disappointing result today, but when all's considered we've made significant progress and I think we're closer to the promised land of the Conference than we think. See below:
21 votes to 11 - that's only 6 clubs that need persuading to reach majority. Far from impossible given a little time and the club engaging our arguments direct with other clubs. Let's get busy with this as a club.
National Coverage - we have a real platform now and if we could win the league would get even more coverage. The more coverage the harder the FA's and the Conferences position becomes as it's built on foundations of sand.
Official Club Statement - the directors still feel we would get promoted if we won the league and this follows Oliver's tweets on open and constructive engagement with the Conference. Is a resolution such as playing in Conference a South for a season before a re vote a compromise that's available?
The Legal Side - If this route is taken I don't think we'd get anywhere near a court. The press coverage alone would allow our arguments to be heard and at this point sense would likely prevail. Couldn't see how the Conference could spin the PR around not allowing a profitable, sustainable, community club to progress on a surface good enough for the Champions League!
Changing attitudes will never be easy but already we're well on the way to where we want to be. As supporters we need to do our bit and keep behind the team as we push for promotion, the other bit will sort itself out. COYS

I think we should feel positive about this we got more votes than expected... Oliver and his team will keep pushing the point. We need to keep the faith with him and our club and support them all the way home, I am sure we will win the battle COYS

Sorry to pour cold water on this optimism, but......from the Conference website:
'The Football Conference, at their EGM this morning, received a proposal to a change of rule to allow Artificial Turf Pitches. The vote, by the Member Clubs....saw the proposal defeated by 21 votes to 11 votes. All 32 votes being cast'
So the proposal was defeated by 21 votes - i.e. only 11 in favour.
Or am I missing something? Currently 21 against 3G and 11 for. If 6 of the 32 votes change direction it would then be 15 against 3G (21-6) and 17 for 3G (11+6).

Based on those numbers it looks like we got the north and south and 3 of the premier, so still a chance for a rule change in the north and south only.

75% required, i.e. super-majority vote. Doesn't matter as it's not even close. More education on the benefits required (which takes time), perhaps we can get more publication of the MUFC finances and business model on the website for all to see? Oliver/Terry were aiming to be quite transparent about this a few months ago but has since gone a bit quiet.
