I think the argument about the benefits of 3G has been won and I'm sure the Conference would want to support it. Unfortunately it appears to be just politics holding up 3G's acceptance........that's all!!

The 3G pitch at one of the Ashford schools was in use all day yesterday and they had a waiting list to use it. I put message on facebook in reply to this and a few people agree 3G is the way to go.

Always had a lot of time for Welling, along with Dover, probably my favourite Kent Club in the Conference.

Strange attitude this www.kentonline.co.uk/east_kent_mercury/sport/kinnear-3g-debate-does-not-11719/"I don't know enough about it" so we'll vote against it.......Dover are of course entitled to vote against 3G and of course if they don't feel it would benefit football at our level then that's up to them.... But to vote "no" having never played a competitive game on it, not knowing anything about it is the type of attitude we are up against. I wonder whether we approached Dover for a pre-season friendly....as it seems funny that Welling and Tonbridge are all for it.

The worrying line in there is the view that most clubs are against it and that the vote on Wednesday is likely to fail. Let's hope he's wrong

It's all down to Jim Parmenter, who just shitting himself that Maidstone might overtake Dover and will do anything he can to make sure it can't happen. Well sorry Jim, I've got news for you. It will happen, if not this year then in the not too distant future, and Maidstone will overtake Dover and you can stick around in the Conference South or lower where you belong. I've always had a lot of time for Dover and their fans but sorry guys, you've go a complete arsehole for a chairman.

The Dover fans are making sensible points on their forum and are not fully behind their chairman on this, they want to be playing us.
"I'd guess hes weighed up the commercial benefit of 1 bumper crowd against the possibility of another significant footballing rival in the league, and decided that it benefits us on the football side to have less competition for promotion. If that was his thinking, you could see his point as he is protecting our interests in his view.
Personally, I think its a shame that a club could be denied promotion that would be achieved on the merits of the football they play, on the basis that they play on a surface thats deemed fit for international football but not for the Conference South! They do have to achieve that promotion in the first place of course."

What a load of bollocks that is. That said, almost zero chance of the vote going through I think.
