If the FA endorse 3G pitches, why have they imposed the limit on the FA cup to qualifying rounds only? Or is this another prime example of them being spineless again? They have already moved the goal posts on that once (in our favour), below are the rules for this season (they were different at the start of the season). The use of 3G facilities is acceptable in the following FA competitions (for the 2012-13 season): • FA Cup (Qualifying rounds only) • FA Trophy • FA Vase • FA Youth Cup (qualifying rounds only) • FA Women’s Premier League and Cup • FA Sunday Cup • FA County Youth Cup Please refer to competition rules for further details. I think the assumption is, pitches will be of a better quality by the time the 1st Round (in the FA Cup) and of course it will include Football League Clubs The key one in there is FA Trophy, which is why we were able to play Eastleigh at home. Do you not see that as an endorsement by the FA to allow 3G pitches at Conference and below? (The FA Trophy being the the top prize for non leage clubs)

There definitely seems to be an attempt by the FA to imply a league/non-league split, but it's hardly helpful. The FA need to get off the fence and endorse 3G in the strongest possible terms. Allowing it in the whole of the FA cup would just about torpedo any moves to keep it out of football in general

But the basic argument we are putting forward is the pitches at Conference level and below in general are simply not good enough.

I believe if we had stuck to such issues and the fact that world cup qualifiers, champions league games are played on these pitches, injuries etc and not banged on about business models, how much money we can make and legal threats, we (3g) may have recieved more votes. Shades of 'willy waving' and preaching how other clubs should run their business.

I agree with ontheup, our argument is that many of the grounds we visit have pitches which are not the best for decent flowing football and are much more likely to be called off than league games (who with the greatest respect to most non-league groundsmen have more £££ to put to work on upkeep). Yes, they're better than the park/school pitches most of us grew up with, but still not great. So the decent economic model that 3G generates and better football is surely an argument that should be considered.

Is that true- your statement should read- the basic argument we are putting forward is that the way football clubs are run at conference level and below in general is simply not good enough

I am interested to know what the clubs plan is if they get promoted? Will you remove your plastic carpet and replace it with a real football pitch? Will you turn down your promotion? will you play at another venue?

By the way there is no such thing as 3G and everyone in the turf industry laugh like cadburys smash men every time someone says it and thinks its cool...so funny

Wonder if we'll get anyone owning up to this or if we've got a poster from another club on the wind up!!

yeah well go back to sharing with rushden and diamonds on there wonderful pitch What wonderful pitch? They were liquidated and their stadium is abandoned, after Kettering left who were subsequently demoted about 4 leagues. However I believe a plastic pitch would have not only saved them but turned them into Barcelona with crowds of 99,000 and increased revenue so they could afford the 200k each week to pay my best friend ( apparently according to this forum) Lionel messii .
