Just to let you know the referees report states that Maldon and Tiptree's Joe Gardner was sent off for foul and abusive language. Make of that what you will.

Thank God Barry Penn isn't one of our 2 new players.
If anyone sees him let me know where?

Funny how attendances aren't very forthcoming when the gate is split between the two clubs involved. Last season when we played Chipstead in the cup the official figure seemed to be slightly lower than expected. Absolutely - so this week Maldon & Tiptree drew a readily disclosed 94 people for the visit of mighty Romford.................

So the lessons are:
Don't trust Maldon & Tiptree to be truthful about the Cup gates .
Don't expect Maldon & Tiptree to be correct in naming players of the opposition - particuarly the substitutes.
No wonder their officials behaved so appallingly towards our coaches last weekend.

Some interesting words from Steve Ward in the Enfield programme about the "banter" that he "enjoyed" at the Maldon game.

According to the KM, the gate was 178, somewhat below my own estimate.

Final word on this ( maybe ) - the way to deal with people like Maldon is to win soundly and move on.
So when Orlando Smith came on in the Second Half there was a lot of good natured banter directed at him ( 'we know where you're going on holiday' etc. ). Orlando then proceeded to give a 25 minute master class and absolutely wazzed all over a tiring Maldon team.
That's the way to do it.
