Yes, Micky can't help himself at times. Like a lot of games over the past month we got through that without playing particularly well. Micky Phillips should take a look at himself - a great bloke to 'have in the trenches' with you ( other clichés can be applied ) but why the outrageous "slip" / "dive" in the second half - just no need at all. Inflamed a tinder dry situation in the main stand where a number of fair minded Maldon supporters were already severely aerated over the refs "bias" towards Fair minded!! The Maldon board/committee in the main stand were nothing short of a disgrace. The things they were shouting all through the game, especially to the ref, were out of order at best. The verbal attack on Alex when pole axed were disgusting and then one of them felt he had to stand right on the halfway line and continue his vitriolic abuse to the ref. Don't get me wrong the ref was poor and could quite easily have sent Alex off just before he was substituted but people wearing club ties and coats should show a lot more class, it was obvious he was badly hurt. The suits then started to have a go at Sam when he reacted to them to the point where one of them would have got physical if we hadn't walked away from the situation. A father then had to take his two boys out of the stand because he did not want them subjected to the continued barrage of swearing and abuse. I am just glad we got the win, I would have begrudged them a lucrative replay at the Gallagher.

Yeah I saw something going on with your lot then the guy leaving with his boys. Unfortunately I don't imagine the language was much better behind the goal when they arrived, pretty sure thats why a M&T official was standing nearby in case anything is mentioned against them.
The Merstham keeper spat at one of our fans for a darn site less than their keeper was getting...which was sad as he was up for the banter and having a chat for the first hour before it went OTT

Funny how attendances aren't very forthcoming when the gate is split between the two clubs involved. Last season when we played Chipstead in the cup the official figure seemed to be slightly lower than expected. Same could be said of our official attendance last week...compared to other gates this season it looked closer to 2000 to me.

One of M&ts officials walked behind the goal near the end asking us how much we'd paid the ref. eedjit.

Q: How can yu tell when someone from Essex is talking Shit? A: Their mouth moves Seriously, the welcome was first class, amd certainly their keeper's banter in the first half that I heard was friendly and their No 10 certainly kept his sense of humour through the game, just a shame their so called "officials" let them down. For the record, on another day (e.g. last week) both Alex and Micky might have been sent off BUTthe abuse given to the ref and Alex for the sending off incident was vile, the ref had no choice because the 11 whacked Browny in the small of the back, even when the fact he had to go off was pointed out to one of their officials the t**t still claimed he was play acting. And as for the NLP saying foul and abusive language? ?? Obvious violent conduct you blind........

I'm a little unsure as to what M&T were up to second half. It was as though they believed we were not allowed to equalise and actually look to try and win because once we got to 1-1 they seemed intent on arguing with the referee. The complaints were that Maidstone players were diving. In some cases they may have had a shout that players were falling over a bit easily although the reality is that infringments were taking place. However, they built to a crescendo wereby there was complaints that a player was diving when what had actually happened was that a very poor and very bookable tackle/assualt had occurred. If they had stopped arguing with the referee and carried on playing they may have got a draw or better because, at 1-1 there was very little in it. The sending off was utter stupidity by their number 11. He was running around in a mood because he felt he should have had a free kick about 30 seconds earlier and then, for some reason only known to himslef, he decided to come and barge/punch/kick (didn't see which) Alex Brown in the back and under the nose of the ref. The ref had little choice but to send him off. It was interesting how the M&T mob who were shouting about Alex's forthcoming miracle recovery said very little when he did, in fact, limp out of the game.
For me two players stood out for M&T. The goalscorer, Chris Bryan, who never stopped running and looking to play football and the centre back, Toner, who intercepted a lot and had a good left foot. The lad Stevenson looked promising but seemed to fade away too much.

Good luck finding highlights...or indeed lights of any altitude whatsoever! Got to agree with you on that one Ant ! Why didnt we play 2 strikers up front?...is it just me or does Frannie Collin seem subdued lately?

Man of the match contenders? Orlando and Fabio, both subs - they changed the nature of the game, although playing against ten men helped.

Interestingly, there are still three home matches where the attendance hasn't been published, according to yesterday's programme, so don't expect a figure any time soon. The average home attendance otherwise seems to be about 75, but when they played the local derby against Heybridge Swifts in the FA Cup, the crowd was 282, so I would guess yesterday we were around that mark. Respect to TimTim Travel for directing the supporters' coach through the back lanes of Essex to avoid the half hour hold up at Danbury.

How many posts do I need to become a God? In some people's eyes you already are. Not mine though.
