What a funny thread. Are we all becoming prima donnas? This is non-league. We win some games, we lose some games (and the ref is always poor in those) and some are boring draws. We have a nice natter to our buddies while we are there, drink some beers or tea and maybe have a hot dog (or two if called Bryan). By all means have an opinion but my advice is to enjoy it and embrace it for what it is rather than become completely manically obsessed about winning every game or you will find there is only a pot of disappointment at the end of the rainbow.

I was around in the dark days of Andy Ford, after half dozen of his revolving door loses on the bounce I voted with my feet and went absent, think we went through 70 players that season yet we were stable under peter knott and Jay came in at the end of the season and re-stablised. The revolving door of players stopped, the performance of the team improved and I voted with my feet again, this time I attended and saw some spirited displays. Jay has already owned up to making errors and some of the first team could do with a rest, but I support Jay with the rest of the season, I hope that the players will start to earn their wage packet and we see some better performances. (shaun welford and steve watt excluded)

Come the end of the season we will probably be near the top challenging for promotion. More important, we will be doing so in our own expanding well attended stadium. If we don't go up there is always next season. What's the hurry? Enjoy the ride and see where it takes us. It's Maidstone United, not Manchester.

It's really interesting reading the posts on both this and the 'The day the title died' threads On this thread if anyone dares suggest that Jay should go, they are immediately shouted down by those that think Jay should be given a chance, whereas on the other thread most seem to think we're clueless only have one tactic, no plan B and have got rid of good players and bought second raters in! You can draw your own conclusions on that one! The truth is that Jay is under pressure, and his job will be one the line, but he'll get until the end of the season and if he fails to take us up he'll be gone. Being a nice bloke wont be enough!

I only posted on this because I can't be bothered to join two whingeing conversations.
I would be only too happy to have Jay in charge next season.

Yup, that works, decide on a managers future on what he nearly achieved two years ago!

Dont you remember the Jim Ward years? If we didnt win every game someone was on his back calling for him to be sacked and it carried on when Lloyd Hume was manager. If you dont mind losing why not go and support a club with no ambition.

Being a former Newcastle fan i am used to abject disappointment but i was led to believe if i started supporting and watching Maidstone United this year they would win every game by 4 clear goals and would be crowned champions by the end of December, all the time playing passing football and never allowing the opposition to touch the ball during the game, beer at 1.50 a pint and freshly cooked food on demand, where did it all go wrong? Now i must remove my tongue from my cheek

its very interesting to read all these posts, BUT think back to the andy ford times and what that was like. the club has come along way in a very short time and its been a massive learning curve for everyone. jay and the boys put in 100 per cent every week give them a chance coys

Just about the most abject performance I've seen from a stones team. Not much Jay can do once the players cross the line and I bet he was absolutely livid after saturday and quite rightly so. These are players who are capable of so much more, but this week there was a lack of ideas, and what is even more unforgivable, a lack of desire. Steve Watt must be wondering what he's let himself in for seeing the dross that was on display against Burgess Hill.

Not much Jay can do once the players cross the line. Sad but true...the 'stand around with your arms folded' method doesn't appear to be paying off for him

yes fans are right to feel unhappy when you see a poor game, but no player goes out to play a bad game and i am sure the players felt the same at the end of the game saturday as we all did. theres still some way to go till the end of the season, still lots of twists and turns and who knows what will happen. If we win our division or make the play-offs its still a marked improvement on what we have had to endure of late. We have come home at last and whatever happens the clubs return to the town is the biggest success story of 2012-13.
