Lots of criticism of George and the team in general. When I do that I get sarky responses! Where are the “In George we trust” brigade? Of course we need to give George more time to break the pattern of poor recruitment since the summer and give him the chance to find another Matt Rush or Mo Faal or Jephte Tanga……but if even after the 3 or 4 newbies to replace poor summer recruits we slip into the relegation zone surely questions must be asked. Hmm, I wonder why you get sarky responses. Could it be your relentless anti-George attitude and negativity - and desperate need to be right? In George we still trust. Because a) he proved himself last season, and b) what other course is there - demand the manager who nearly got us promoted and took us the the FA Cup 5th round in his first season be sacked before September is already out?? Oh, and George DID find Mo Faal and Jephte Tanga - AND Levi Amanchi. The only reason we haven't still got them is that we can't afford them. Nothing to do with George. Locate a mirror, and have a long, hard look into it.

I support George. The memories of last season will never fade.
We could get knocked out of the cup and lose the next five games and I will still stand by him and all the players.
Why? Because I can and because I’m like that.

I’m all for supporting the manager. If it is a poor season, then sit down a decide why, and if it’s the managers fault, move on to someone else.

Locate a mirror, and have a long, hard look into it. If money is the issue preventing us securing the better players then why not balance the budget with a marginally smaller first team squad to finance it and have the academy players cover in times of emergency (injuries/suspensions) such as Sam Smith and Riley Court?

Highlights suggest we were unlucky not getting a first half penalty, though no doubt the ref would have evened it up later 🤬. Keeper did not need to rush out for their first goal. Our two goals were great. Chesham rightly threw everything at the final free kick, but got lucky when the ball went in off a knee. Still had to be there though. And why are refs almost always against us? The only time we seem to get a fair deal is in the Cup, against higher opposition - when we get a better standard referee...

No question we have some good players in this team, just not enough of them. You can't carry the keeper and main striker every game, plus a couple in between who are not nearly good enough. George still needs another 3 or 4 quality players to turn the team into a top 5 challenger or even title contenders. Seems a bit far fetched at the mo but with other pre season favourites struggling too, nothing is impossible. It's how you finish the season that matters, not where you finish in September. I’d like to say I’m disappointed with the keeper, but after pre season he’s turned out exactly as I expected. Time to give Holden a chance. The new striker reminds me of Amanchi when he first came. Looked awful for the first few games but look how he turned out, so maybe worth a couple more games to see if he can get up to speed. I disagree with this view of Andre Jr I missed St Albans but in every game I've seen he's looked absolutely fine and has made some great saves along the way (Fowler was 100% at fault for the first on Saturday btw) Holden has never played a senior game at any level and whilst he may turn out to be great I wouldn't want to put an 18 year old into this side particularly when have a defence that can't mark from set pieces and literally shits itself every time a cross comes into our box

Surely Dave AA Jnr made a couple of great saves today? One of them as a result of his misjudgment coming for a cross. Being a good shot stopper isn’t enough. He didn’t need to get involved for their first goal, Fowler was in control of the situation. To many mistakes and yet Holden, who looked a better option in pre season doesn’t get a look in. if Fowler was in control he'd have sherpherded the ball back to the keeper who called for it, or put it out for a throw he did neither, so it's on him I'm afraid

Fowler was already committed when AAJ came rushing out. One of his big problems is his lack of communication. Absolutely no way Fowler could have known what he was doing. And it wasn’t his only misjudgement in the game. First half came for a cross, changed his mind and almost got caught off his line rapidly backtracking. Second half came for a cross through a crowd of players and got nowhere near it, and only redeemed himself by sticking out a foot to prevent a goal from the resulting shot. He’s a very good shot stopper, but at this level we need a lot more than that.

I'd encourage you to watch it again - if Fowler holds the man off it runs back to the keeper who can clear it - if Fowler puts a proper challenge in the ball goes out of play - what Fowler does is get a weak touch on the ball which leaves the striker clean through

We've been rubbish some seasons and some seasons we've been good. It was ever thus and will ever be. Just enjoy going to games, either cheering or tearing your hair out in frustration. We are not Man City, Liverpool, or Arsenal but we can always get to see out team and at an affordable price. Next week, I'm saving up for that long away trip in the cup . So come to the Bay, have a beer, enjoy the game and try out the Prince of Wales, Divers, The Ship or any other of our fine seaside hostelries. Most of all enjoy supporting your home town team because we lost it once while people chased small-scale glory. It was a long road back...

But even if you’re right, I suggest you watch his overall performance with particular regard to dealing with high balls into the box. He’s all over the place. He successfully dealt with one cross on Saturday. He almost gifted them two goals on other occasions when he either changed his mind or simply didn’t make it and only luck and his ability as a shot stopper got him out of trouble.

At this point of the season as we think about George we have to consider two things really.
One, he has recruited badly which on paper does not look like the case as we have got some of the best individuals from across this league.
Two, which I think is more likely his tactics and or training are not working.
To be fair to him this is still a new job, but unfortunately in this business you don’t get years to find your feet especially when the club you work for expect you to be in the top 5.
I would be interested to know if George has any performance related clauses in his two year contract that would enable the club to part ways if we continue to linger near the bottom. If there isn’t come rain or shine I don’t think the club will be able to move on even if we wanted to.
My own personal opinion is that last year’s cup run although magical doesn’t give George a free pass to dramatically under perform all season. I hope he turns it around of course I do, but I’m growing less confident by the week.

Both goals on Saturday were avoidable. We also need to stick to the game plan for the whole 90 minutes and not get frustrated when teams come with only spoiling tactics. We’re almost at the 10 game mark that was George’s reference point for how it was going, so we need to see the Improvement take a big step forward or fans will start getting restless and he may be in for a difficult time.
