Come to the G on Saturday with a fine win rate in their four away games this season: 2-1 Salisbury 3-1 Welling 2-1 St Alban's 1-1 Eastbourne
So, no mugs then and currently much higher in the league than us. Won in the cup last weekend too. However took them until 7th September to win at home and that was against Aveley, having lost their first three. They score plenty, but let in a few too, with a GD of 13-10 in their last six, according to Fishy. Compare that to Maidstone where, despite the recent cup win, we are still to win at home in the league this season, scoring just twice and conceding eight in our four games for just a single point. So, the stats don't look good - home side yet to win, away side yet to lose. Hopefully that will change on Saturday. Another 0-0 draw anyone?

I watched the highlights of the H&RB game last night, and (apart from thinking their pen wasn't and ours was) I was impressed by the level of skill in our team and the overall way we played. I was at that game, but without my glasses (last seen 1,000 miles away...), so, although I thought we looked good, I couldn't see the detail, so was pleasantly surprised.
So, with the improvement we saw in the early part of the Chelmsford game, even more at Enfield, and the character and skill we displayed on Saturday, I am feeling fairly positive about this Saturday.
Having seen Chesham in the Cup last season, I can't believe they have improved that markedly, and the early part of their season certainly supported that, with just one win and one draw in 5 games (and 3 home defeats). What's got them to where they are now (8 places - but only 4 points - above us) is their recent run of three wins. The result at Welling was impressive, but the two games they've played since have been against bottom 5 sides.
They are on a run and self-belief is high, but I think we are the superior side and hopefully that will be reflected in the points.

Still no Sam Corne today. Anyone any idea how long he is out for and what with? See we have a new dinosaur mascot today.

Chesham very good at sucking the life out of the game, without being anything special. Bentley and Blair working hard, but unfortunately, we are playing with only ten at the moment because Ludowhoeverheis looks less than useless. How someone his height can fail to win so many headers defies belief. Feel for Bentley, currently five clear fouls on him, with just one given. Second half, we need eleven players, to counter their twelve, with the ref and to play with a lot more pace. Otherwise, it could be another Chelmsford.

There goes the fans asking for a big man being wrong cause they cant admit how much George is getting wrong, I've really lost patience with people not seeing the issues this team has

If George can start the team that ends matches we might give ourself more of a chance.
He's making the right subs, but they are the right subs because they should be starting.
If I see Bentley, lodovica and gurung start over Benton, coulthirst or kras/higgs or trusty again I might pull my hair out.
Thought coulthirst looked sharp outside of that irritating mistake at the end.

Better once Ludovica went off and good to see Blair on Coulthurst taking matters into their own hands for two very nice goals. The ref yet again a complete fuckwit, failing to penalise their keeper for serial time wasting, then giving a yellow card to our player for jumping to catch the ball as it sailed over his head for a throw in. Pathetic... Overall, Chesham came across as a cynical team, wasting time at every opportunity while they were ahead, when they should have been more ruthless and put the game to bed while we were floundering. Very frustrating therefore that we should concede with virtually the last touch of the game, when justice seemed about to be served. That said, the old enemy of giving away soft goals continues to bite us. At least our forwards now have more goals than our defenders, but we nevertheless remain without a home win in the league. Minor, but significant point - George's call to the team as the second half kicked off was something like "Right, same again let's go." Really???

How Lodovica stayed on for 70 minutes is beyond me - did absolutely nothing, didnt look interested and probably wouldn't get into a Kent league side. Bentley was only marginally better - need to get rid of both these carthorses and get a proper target man. Thought we were dire for the first 70 minutes- to me the team doesn't appear to gel together. We did look better for the last 20 minutes -scored 2 good goals - and then conceded with virtually the last kick of the game when Coulthirst gave away a stupid freekick when he should have smashed the ball out of the ground. Disappointing - looks like we are heading for a relegation scrap rather than the playoffs

Tactically we are shockingly poor. Every week we hear about this management and recruitment team and all the positive talk for it to all come crashing down on game day. Chesham are no nonsense, physical, hit it long team and they are fairly good at it. We don't know what we are or how we want to play.
You can't help but feel sorry for players like Blair and Benton. They are so much better than the long ball tripe we can only seem to do. I'll always support the team but have lost all confidence in this management team pushing on to the next level.
