I remember a brilliant moment years ago when I was chatting to Bill in the main stand and he told me they'd spent lots of money putting anti-pigeon spikes in the roof only to stand and watch a pigeon land and step between them.

Why not just give the trees to the away fans?

How much do match footballs cost and how long do they last? For example does it have to be a new one every game? Hope not, but given that two or three balls regularly end up over the Riverside fence each game - and sometimes more - then netting might save some money. Probably rules about birds flying in to it though. Not a good advert if it becomes festooned with rotting pigeon and gull carcasses... The problem that was had with netting (to stop balls) is the surprising number of bats in the area. They can't 'see' the net so it's a danger to them. I guess if it could be put up and down that could solve the problem but a majority of the games and pitch use would go through twilight so becomes pointless.

If I was trying to sell a multimillion pound asset and had some loose change from a cup run, I’d enclose any land being sold with a fence to show what can be done, rather than an aerial picture with dotted lines highlighting a future expense. I would also want to not be explaining great big hooligan fences and regular disorder.

Definitely looks like the Riverside fence is being moved back.

Definitely looks like the Riverside fence is being moved back. Would be nice for some scaffolding stand to pop up just before the season starts

If work is taking place it is really wierd that there is zero communication from the club.

Certainly terrain being leveled with earth being moved by dump truck and rolled.

Do you mean the land is being leveled on the river side of the perimeter gate ?
Is this land owned by the club ?

The club owns a narrow strip between the fence and the path leading up to the footbridge. All I could make out on my bike ride was a dump truck and a roller at the car park end. Might be in preparation for levelling the strip and moving the fence but difficult to tell.

Wonder how much that would cost.
£20,000 to move the fence and create hard standing?
