This would be a massive shame but if we are to stay up we will need players that have the time to commit. Hukey has been awesome and will be a huge loss but it amazes me that our lads are able to do this to a high standard and hold down a job as well. It's manageable with the right job but training 2-3 times per week and a coach trip to somewhere like Bath or Weston-super-mare followed by a midweek fixture will be a struggle for a few. They say he's only 29 but facing facts, playing football is not a long term career choice unless you coach like watty or worgs.

I notice that someone mentioned Stoney and from what I can remember he is still on loan from Dover. He's been a great addition and to make him a permanent member of the team would be a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.

If like me you cant stand the 'when i was just a little boy i asked my father' etc song. I am the one to blame. First sung at Scunthorpe away 1989 by 4 of us. Sorry. But in those days us nd Gills were genuine rivals. Nowadays it just makes us look idiots, especially as the vast majority of their fans are quite supportive of our revival. And given some of our team are on the Gillingham training payroll.

So... Grays biggest game of the season. Its now a massive game for us. We may as well just get the same subject going for the next three games to save the hassle.

The place was a bit dead today to be honest but you lot seemed to enjoy yourselves. I particularly enjoyed your telscombe cliffs appreciation song.
Good luck with the new stand. Do you need many more to sponsor a seat?

Was a bit odd but maybe he's nursing something. I was expecting George to go if first if I'm honest. He was clearly trying but nothing really working for him.
Pax was a great addition. Great skill in getting the ball out when under close pressure. Future is bright if we keep hold of him after the summer.

The conference does worry me slightly. Currently we get a ridiculous turn out at home given its non league but that is not replicated away. That suggests there are about 3-400 actual hardcore supporters (which is about right based on most other clubs attendances this year) so about 12-1500 people at home their for a nice day out. If we do go up and discover the standard is that much better and we go down I can't see that we will be able to keep up those high gate numbers which will then have a knock on impact to the wages we pay and players we can pull in.
Theses are all generalisations with no hard facts and clearly don't take in to account those that simply can't get to away games etc but I would be interested to see the attendance figures for dartford I ver the last few years. New ground and riding the wave all the way to the conference prem and now about to get knocked back on their arses to the south. It's not easy to stay in that league with a part time team so I wonder if we will be able to cope with it.
In terms of our ability to beat conference opposition though, fa cup vs welling! We beat them pretty easily but still only see us being mid table at best if we go up. Will be interesting to see how the town reacts to a mid to low table team getting beaten at home vs a high flying top of the table team winning most games at home.

Couldnt get there but did manage to listen to stones live. One positive that came from the game was the crowd. Our lot singing until the last knockings were a credit to the club and I'm sure the lads would have appreciated it even if they are going home with their tails down.
Hendons run from here is awful and if they get through it without dropping any points they deserve the title. Let's see how it unfolds but im expecting a few more twists before the last game of the season.
