I totally get the £200k losses of last season have caused an issue.
But the new 3G pitch.
Was that such a surprise ?
Did nobody have a clue it was coming to its end ?
Was nothing put aside in all those seasons when profits were made ?
Something doesn't quite add up.
Still at least the club is in a stronger financial position, but that doesn't mean it will support an increase in the playing budget which is all about revenue.
Seems that it will all go on a few infrastructure improvements, non of which was apparently planned or had financial provision.
Like Nick, I hope surely that the club will look again at making the Genco exclusively the home end.

It seemed very out of character for the owners not to have accounted for it.

All of a sudden they need more money for a new pitch and after 1 season off loss, its all become difficult.

That's about it !
Us supporters must be real stupid, clearly we have no idea about financial planning.

I remember Oliver & Terry years ago both saying that part of the business plan was putting money by each year specially to cover for a new 3G pitch. Considering we've reported a profit every year, but this one since this pitch was installed in 2016 it does make you wonder what has gone wrong that we needed to start a lottery to help fund a new pitch

You’d imagine the covid season coupled with throwing money down the drain last season has something to do with why the pitch is coming out FA CUP money.
It’s also harder to make a profit, like all of us I’m sure the stadiums utility bills have sky rocketed and probably cost more per month than a lot of our players.
also don’t be so obtuse to equate wage increase and the cost of building projects

I just love that we have so many experts in football finances on this forum. Must be really comforting for the owners to know they have so many people who know so much more than they do.

One does not have to be a genius to divide 200,000 by 8.
25000/2000000*100=1.25% of turnover needs to be put aside to replace the pitch.
As we have been told the pitch makes £400,000 a year, it’s not an outlandish subject.
That’s not a criticism of our owners (blessed be their names) just forum chatter.

If we cannot afford a riverside stand why not built some terracing so that fans could stand 3 or 4 deep and still see the pitch. That would improve the capacity at a reasonable cost.

Medium term ? That pre-supposses that a medium term plan exists. Not a 'Cat in Hell's chance' !

My memory must be shot to pieces.
My recollection of how Terry Casey was criticising the Council s few years back, for not supporting the club and putting its future at risk, for delaying the sell off of the riverside land for very little, in order for the club to develop this much needed infrastructure improvement.
So what was that all about ?
Talk about smoke and mirrors.

Loyalty and support for the club owners is admirable and only what they deserve. But daveu, you surely do not think of Oliver and Terry as 'Supreme Beings' whose decisions must never be questioned. They are truly exceptional people and outstanding custodions of the club. But will they be always be right ? Unlikely Are they supercharged God type entities, way beyond our understanding ? Unlikely ! For sure, they get things right most of the time or so it appears from a supporters perspective, which is all we've got to go on. But this is is a supporters forum where individuals are allowed to express their own personal views. If we are 'non expert' so what ! As a non expert but devoted supporter, I do hope that we see some more tangible improvements at the club than have been mentioned so far. A dedicated supporters GENCO stand please Terry and Oliver.
