The Luque rumour about his insurance not paying out for some reason was doing the rounds again at the weekend.

I've no idea what our total turnover is, so maybe £200k isn't much in comparison, but it's still a lot of money that could have been used for other things (better toilets at the TE for a start!). I wonder exactly how it was 'lost' - our attendance, although down, didn't crash. Perhaps it's just a reflection on the greater difficulty of trying to make ends meet in the NL when you're having a crap season? Unless Hak spunked some it away buying/borrowing his ever more desperate series of replacement players...

New TE toilets are next on the cards I believe.
The money Hak threw down the drain on utter dross last season. 60 Grand plus just on Luque to not kick a ball all season, and for Alabi to may as well not have is hardly a good starting point.

Unless Hak spunked some it away buying/borrowing his ever more desperate series of replacement players... It’s there in black and white. As is how moving money around the companies deals with it. With a £2 million turnover, doesn’t take much of a downturn to change from break even to a £200,000 loss. Increased expenditure to fight relegation and decreased revenue from falling crowds. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that one Coventry player has higher wages than our entire turnover.

Do the previous 10 years profits cover 1 bad year ? I thought the profits went back into the club?

At a wild guess, you’re sitting in or standing on £1.8 million of profits every time you attend a home game.

The Mirror has published a Stones feature today that suggests that the club has pocketed £600,000 from its FA cup run from prize money and tv rights. Add to that 45% of gate receipts for all the ties. Wonder what that totals.

Add to that 45% of gate receipts for all the ties. Wonder what that totals. This was my best guess if we go out on Monday. TV fees so far £225,000. Prize money £351,375 Gate receipts £125,000? Total = £701,375 + 45% of gate receipts for next game. Suppose £15 a head times 20,000 = £300,000 x 0.45 = £135,000? Potentially £836,375 minus tax.

Think Oliver said in a trade publication that so far (this was after the Ipswich game) that total winnings (tv, prize, gate, merch etc) stood at about £680k
Tv & gate money on Monday should get it a good deal nearer to £1m

The taxman will want his share but I'm sure under capital gains regulations we can figure in the £200,000 loss to lessen the amount of tax paid

As I don't know can any accountant who prepares taxes confirm whether previous years assessed tax losses can be netted off against next year's tax profits. I know in other jurisdictions and in other time periods this was allowed.

Suggest Terry and Oliver contact Donald Trump. He seems to know his way round minimising tax payments.

Can anyone remember how much the Genco stand cost?
Just trying to get the Cup money into perspective. Once the TE toilets are refurbished, new pitch sorted out, etc, will what's left be enough to do anything substantial?
In an ideal world, a Genco-style TE would be nice, but I imagine that would cost way more than we'll have left. But maybe there'll be enough to do something with the river side - at least winden it and put in some terracing? Or/and a few more seats somewhere?
