If George is hoping that the trialists will add quality and strength to the squad, then we have a problem.

Time to start showing us the squad George. It’s all very well giving trialists a chance but few if any of them looked good enough. Four halves, four different teams and we’ve only seen about eight of the actual signed on players. And if that’s the best Chatham have to offer against a disjointed Stones trial squad then it’s gonna be a tough season for them. Chats probably saying the same about Stones. Not looking great at the mo. But still some time to improve but getting less by the day.

More widespread and understandable concerns about the coming season starting to grow on the forum.
Those of us who have been saying this over the summer were accused of disliking George and jumping the gun and to just trust.
Of course there is still time for it to all come good and George prove to be the new Jay and shape us into a winning team but equally it’s interesting seeing all the comments on managing expectations and enjoying whatever football we get at the Gallagher as part of a mid table outcome.
I hear all that but still can’t help thinking we are a club that is better than that. Maybe that’s where I’m going wrong!
Maybe I’ve become a “glory hunter” due to us winning the NLS title and just accept and enjoy our real status as mid table NLS, be happy we are not In Isthmian and get on with it.
Time will tell but good to see others seeing the warning signs at last.

Tbh I am concerned about 2 successive poor performances against lower league opposition. Could anyone see the difference in class ? Whats this with loads of trialists on show at this stage. Not what I expected of George. Nothing resembling a 1st X1 and shed-loads of gaps in the line up. Doesnt seem that George has signings in mind if he is looking at so many players on trial. Worrying times TBH last time you were downbeat it ended well If you want to get carried away with some outlandish optimism and wear those black and amber specs, then fair enough. Less than 2 weeks left in Dreamland, so enjoy while you can.

I think it may be time for all of us to start worrying when even the perpetual optimist that is daveu begins criticising the reliance on trialists and not finding a settled team. Concerning times

Sooner rather than later a more settled team should start to appear. Just a bit concerned that George is relying in trialists to fill up the squad, rather than signing proven quality.

It seems to me surprising that so few of the 2 teams facing Chatham played for us in the NL last season. First half just Sam Bone (Greenidge had next most games with half a dozen in the season); second half just Fowler (with Hoyte a regular until his injuries). So it is perhaps not surprising that the teams have looked disjointed (especially midfield and up front), even before some 12 triallists. But no goals from open play is not a great start. I would be concerned that we have not yet seen 4 of our 15 contracted players in the first two PSFs. Are they all injured? Hopefully not another season of injuries after the last one. As with other contributors on this forum I look forward to announcements of a senior goalkeeper and a goal scoring striker as soon as possible. I would also like to see a right back as cover for Hoyte. I am also curious as to why several players are not wearing their squad numbers shown on the first team page of the club website. Is it to do with using up last year's kit?

I saw Coleman De-Graft & Aransibia queueing up to buy food before the game, so it makes me wonder if they are both injured.

Concerning times I'm very concerned. The sun has disappeared, the wind is making the sea choppy and I've run out of beer, concerning times indeed.
